Adams Oshiomhole's corruption file that has been lying fallow in the EFCC's office, precisely in Magu's residence has finally got the needed attention under Umar the new acting EFCC boss. This moment is certainly not a good one for the deposed APC chairman who is currently still serving his suspension from the party at the state level. Having been relegated to a suspended party member within the APC, the resurfacing of Oshiomhole's corruption file in the EFCC could signal his possible arrest and subsequent prosecution, by the anti graft agency.



Recall that one Dr. Osadolor Ochei JP, a human rights activist and anti- corruption crusader based in Benin City, had since 2016 initiated a corruption case against Oshiomhole, through a petition to the EFCC. In the petition, he alleged that Oshiomhole violated relevant sections of the constitution, when he built a sprawling city of mansions in his home town, Iyamho, estimated at over N10 billion, while in office as the state governor of Edo state, among other allegations. This case has been kept unattended to by the EFCC since 2916, until Magu, the ex-EFCC acting chairman for about 5years was suspended and is being currently under investigation. interestingly, the Oshiomhole's file was reportedly found in Magu's house after a raid was carried out to search for evidence against him.

Oshiomhole, with no trace of sustainable income had built for himself a city, while still serving as the governor of Edo state. Among the projects that Oshiomhole is being alleged to have embezzled funds are the Edo storm water project, and the Edo specialist hospital. Meanwhile, the judicial commission of inquiry set up to investigate the financial dealings in the Edo specialist hospital, has indicted Oshiomhole for violating the procurement law, when he paid 75% of the total contract sum to the contractor handling the project, as against the 25% allowed by the procurement law. Sadly no equipment was supplied to the hospital. Thus, the governor, Godwin Obaseki has already issued a white paper on the commission's report, to make it actionable in court. So, Oshiomhole should be facing series of court cases afterwards. Interestingly, the attempt by Oshiomhole to stop the Edo state government from possibly arresting him, has not been granted by the court.



Therefore, what had started as a mere political conflict between Oshiomhole and Obaseki, has brought Oshiomhole to the biggest political disrepute of his entire political life.
