Very exciting prospect, one that however should prompt us to start preparing to make maximum use of the opportunities that are forecasted to emerge.

This means we must equip our rising population with skills and education to make them useful to the economy. We must use this data to plan future schools and healthcare centres, as we revamp the entire healthcare system. There will be increased rural - urban migration so our town planners and security architecture need to factor and prepare for these.

I'm glad at the progress we are making so far towards a sustainable agro-economy which will guarantee food sufficiency, and position the country to take advantage of strategic economic & political advantages that accompany such capacity in the near future.

In the next 50 years, global demand for fossil fuels would have greatly fallen as demand for skilled labour, food & raw materials rises, so if we get our agro-economic game right, we have a Dubai of opportunities awaiting us with proper planning and execution.

Nigeria will be Great!

Now I understand where your ignorance stems from.
Every developing/developed country has an economic agenda no matter what party takes power (remember Nigeria's fraudulent Vision 2020?) Of course implementation would vary from govt to govt.
Example, America's petrol dollar policy or Israel's policy to dominate the IT industry.
Now what is Nigeria's plan??
Not even a plan to provide electricity, you better wake up

You're mostly right, though I disagree that we lack a national economic plan. Have you studied the ERGP?

From the massive investment in the last 5 years in agriculture, to the establishment of institutions like NIRSAL and repositioning of the Exports Promotion Council (NEPC) among others, to the establishment of trade facilitation systems and infrastructure like the Gezawa Digital Agro-Exchange & building of railways across the country linking the North with the South, it is very clear that our national economic plan is deliberate & geared towards diversifying our economy towards agriculture and away from oil. This has been the policy thrust of this administration from the very beginning, and the positive results are already trickling in. Check out Nigeria's revenue profile over the past few years if you dispute this.

With food sufficiency, tremendous export capacity for raw materials, and a huge skilled & productive population; the sky is the limit if we plan and execute properly.

Stop talking like an illiterate. ''The UK media'' did not conduct the research. That is not their job or training. You couldn't even take the time to find out who did the research before commenting your negativity. Why should anyone take you and your intellectual laziness and negativity seriously? You're useless to the discussion.
There's a thing I would like you to know. The colonial masters have set things in motion before leaving, for them to suggest that you should know they'd seen something probably from 3D point of view ( we all know the beauty of such drawing is know to the artist alone). Unless the circuit is broken, I don't see Nigeria in an inch of progression.

All ethnic groups should be autonomous states or provinces and do their own thing and have border walls and toll booth entrance . The best system for Calabar & Cross river is Social Democracy(70%socialism/30%capitalism) , and only 20 percent non natives should be allowed to live in Calabar &Cross river. Others can overpopulate their place with 100 billion people and practice 100 percent capitalism as much as they please and that's their business.

What are you doing to make that possible?

I'm working within the framework of our extant laws and circumstances as the projection was for Nigeria and not any other non-existent autonomous state. However, I like your ideas regarding sustainability and think they should be applied across board.

Our cities will start to look like Singapore. Nigeria doesn’t have enough land to handle billions of people. All buildings in major cities will have to at least 150m and they will need their own solar panels, so we’re not having high carbon production, all streets need hundreds of trees. Nigeria needs a lot of help. But hopefully this estimate is wrong.
that's not how it works, currently, the entire world population can fit into Nigeria, we just need the right building and structures, at the point that u read this message, the area where there is no human is more than the areas with humans in Nigeria

You are a thoughtless toad to be repeating the same stupid mantra of demanding a ''plan''.

Who should draw up your ''plan''?

The current APC govt?

Buhari?

And then what happens to the ''plan'' if PDP or another party wins the election, and then revises or alters (or ditches) the ''plan'', as would be their right?

You would then call it a ''fraudulent plan'', wouldn't you? And blame 'Nigeria' for it.

Your head is steeped in negativity. It is YOU that is ''childish''. No, there is no specific ''plan'' for the country because the country is a democracy which makes any plan beyond 4 years subject to change by an incoming party, and rightfully so.

Nigeria's development goals are no secret, and are the same as any other country's - self sufficiency in food, good educational system, improved security, healthcare and sanitation, and industrialisation. The UN Human Development Index is a guide for all nations on improving the basic living standards of their people, and Nigeria is a signatory to that.

What other ''plan'' do you want?

4 years is what a party gets to implement its policies towards achieving those human development objectives, and 8 years if they do well. End Of.

Ahhahh u idiot!
You are just asking the right question!
They are regional plans!

Even marriage that is the Union of 2 people has a long and short term goal,
The company u work for has a plan, no matter the CEO that takes over
Nigeria has none. Even ur universities doesn't recognize the changes of the modern world. Nigeria has ZERO plans, can't even safeguard its citizens
You are incapable of deep thought.
Just wait until all ur professionals and brightest minds run away, like those doctors, sadly we would be left with quota system dummies like you

Look bro , let's stop playing around
Over 30% of farmers are scared of going to their farms, farmlands are being abandoned on a daily basis
The only reason there is a rail project is because China is handling the project, they even bring their staff.
For the past 30 years, I doubt our refineries has ever worked at 100% capacity.
Nigeria was created so the British protectorate called Northern Nigeria doesn't go under. It's in all the damn books written by the colonizers

1. Are there presently railways already built & in progress linking the North and South for trade and transportation?

2. Will it be a booster for any agro-economy?

3. Do we have dry ports in the North made possible due to the new railways?

Yes yes yes, even if being built by aliens cool

Definitely there are security challenges, but that has not stopped northern farmers from reaping bountiful harvests. That said, much is being done to contain the situation. The truth is that we're paying for poor leadership in the past that allowed the population to be unproductive and inevitably, destructive. The future is certainly brighter.

The Federal Government's focus is shifting towards agriculture, leaving most of the business of running refineries to the private sector led by Aliko Dangote, whose mega-refinery is capable of satisfying our national demand with surplus for export, earning us foreign exchange.

The North, or Nigeria indeed, isn't going under anytime soon, so I suggest you don't hold your breath wink.
