Bros 7k was better cause the other teachers earned less than that. anyways it was a primary school in a new site somewhere in ogun state, there's nothing like Union or stuff like that here. I thank God for life Sha cause that was 2018 and I stopped after three months.

I work in an organization where school fees is the major source of income. The organization had ten secondary schools in Lagos State with yearly revenue of of N300Million. With over 18 years experience as administrative staff at the headquarters.

All secondary schools in Lagos State have started their 2nd term examinations before the state government ordered closure of schools. As at then average of 80% expected school revenue had been received.

Most terminal classes had pay even parts of 3rd school fees if not all because school fees for primary six, JSS3 and SSS3 for the whole session will be divided into two and must be paid first half during first term while the second half must be paid before the end of 2nd term. In essence. At least 80% of expected revenue for the payments of March and April have been collected by private schools.

A school with 10 branches in Lagos alone doesn't qualify as an average private secondary school to which most private schools in Lagos belong. They definitely have an unwavering revenue collection policy and should easily float any of her branches whose income is falling below requirement.

Sir/ma, I can say the inability to collect up to 90% fees by the school/proprietors in your locality shows the incompetent level of the school managers. Besides, you have said something about "family" in your opinion. With that alone, money may not enter as expected, but i tell you, these people lie alot, school business is a big cash in stuff.
Another thing is that the money used for salaries by these proprietors is very small compare to what they collect from their customers.

But April till date? Absolutely not.

Where do you expect the management of these schools to get the money from? Steal? Have you equally factored in the possibility that most schools haven't received their full revenue via full school fees payments as a number of them, if not all, encourage flexible payments from parents. Take out salaries, cost of maintenance/depreciation, payments to vendors/contractors/suppliers, TAXES, and in a considerable no of cases loan repayment, and there is little or NOTHING left for the proprietors for even more capital projects.

In a nutshell, before you heap the them on proprietors for all the covid-19 hardship faced by private school teachers, why not put yourself in the shoes of the former.

My school left us only with February payment after we have almost completed our second term examinations.
Within this pandemic time, he has bought a new plot of land and almost completed his building project without paying his teachers their salary since March.
In them, i see the devil's in human garment. so greedy and selfishness. May God help us all.�

What most people don’t understand is that parents hardly pay for school fees until it’s time for exams.
It is only very few private schools (the elite ones) that collect fees for the entire session.
See, I am a private school teacher and I have not been paid since April either but the way the society is demonizing school owners is not fair!
What is their crime? They are no longer making money to pay teachers for goodness sake! When schools resume now, the school building needs to be put back in shape. Where do y’all think the money is coming from?
Y’all should show empathy and channel your aggressions to the government. Their inadequacies is not the school owners’ fault!

First thing for Pete's sake is to incorporate the biz. Please, separate running d school from d ownership.

Secondly, get a good Finance Officer (not just an Accountant). Add an Admin Officer, followed by a Principal or Head Master. Spell out duties and functions clearly.

Recruit teachers, and other staff.

If your biz doesn't progress per time then call me a fool.

But ignorance, greed, selfishness will never allow such owners do the right thing.

Running biz in Nigeria is tough, but like our government officials, most biz owners know jack.

Oga, i disagree totally with your opinion. These so called proprietors are just wicked. Most of the schools were writing exam before the lockdown, meaning that, payments already made. Besides, they collected for the whole term, Jan - April, but they decided to stop salary at Feb/March haba!!

The questions now are:

i. Won't they collect the money from parents, if they've not done so?
ii. Will they pay their staff the outstanding money after resumption?
iii. What have they been using the previous monies they collected for?

In conclusion, they are not to be blamed but our government that failed to formulate policies and follow up.

Correction: not all schools were writing exams. Some had about a week or 2 before exams. As a result of the lockdown in some states, most schools had to RUSH their exams so as to ensure that the children had to get home on time to their parents. So how did you expect the schools to get their fees, especially during national and global health crisis?

Again I'll say this. Teachers and staff should've gotten their full salaries for the month of March. BUT expecting schools to pay full salaries for April and May?? Haba! At that point, you should be talking of palliatives, not demanding salaries.

I.What you will be paid depends on Your qualifications.If you have OND/NCE,you can't earn above a Bsc,for instance Pol.Science.
ii Your Salary depends also on your experience.How many places have you worked?
iii Your take home depends on the location of the School! For example Schools at Island and in fact-Lekki will be more expensive than Ketu-or Ikorodu for obvious reasons.Those in Lekki will pay more for everything!!

As a principal myself, I can categorically say that the OP is very wrong by generalising his assertion.
I don't support proprietors owing their staff but only if you know what many proprietors pass through in the course of collecting school fees.

(4)loan repayment
(5)Payment of rent/lease (**not all cases)
