My parents rarely flogged us,. We were regularly punished though.. Like not going out and playing with your friends.. No watching of television, no buying of Christmas cloths etc basically stuffs like that..

As for the second question, I think the flogging should stop before the child gets to senior secondary level so he/she won't develop an everlasting hatred for you (the parent) cos that teenage age can make or mar your relationship with your child. There is a stage to correct a child with flogging ,I personally think after 14 years flogging a child is just assualt and torture.If you do your job well from when a child is born till they are 14, you will not need to raise your hand to correct them.

I only remember my Dad beating me twice in my life. Both where before I entered secondary school. My mum beatings were more frequent than my dad's but it was before I entered secondary school. Immediately I got into secondary school, Command boarding school,my parents look away from many things,they know beatings were waiting for me in Command already

Spare the rod and spoil the child. Africans parents need to augment in their training of child to reduce all the social vices we are having in our communities especially in the area of a boy child. My I think I was around 12 years old, that was in '97 precisely. I don't remember what I did but my mum who would always beat me up to a pulp wanted to hit me I raised my hands to defend myself. Upon her hand touching me her hand broke. That was the last time my mum ever beat me. My Dad who was against corporal punishment(this because my Dad never ever laid a finger on me till he died) was delighted, he was like " You saw a giant like this and you feel you could continue beating him abi?" I felt bad though, because I saw my mum in pains. But that was the last time she ever raised her hands to flog me.
