what is the deal that Osinbajo signed? Were they part of the pdp govt that privatized power?. The report did not even specify exactly what they did wrong. The bunch of stupid house members are just making noise to pretend to Nigeria that they are working. Why can't they meet with them and seek clarification of things. I think the two supporting horses and eagle on the coat of arm of Nigeria should be replaced with images of people weeping, unemployed, and in abject poverty. Other parts of the coat of arm should show images of massive looting by politicians and top govt officials. That's what Nigeria truely is.

I have always said this and will keep saying it;
If they audit the privatization of power sector and the amount of money spent by FG on power sector even after the supposed privatization, Nigerians will be wowed!

A lot of money has been spent to give Nigerians darkness.

Our darkness is the most expensive in the world. It costs our government millions of dollars to serve us darkness.

May God heal our land and give us better leaders.

While Suswam in his committee’s report suggested that a loan should be given to generation and distribution companies, Lawan suggested that senators who are lawyers should study the various agreements signed by the government and explore ways of getting Nigeria out of the dilemma.

“The privatisation was faulty from the beginning. We can’t completely blame them. There’s nothing wrong if we give subsidy to the power sector until they become stable and liquid.”

This is another battle between the FG and the obsolete DISCOs and GENCOs, unfortunately, the DISCO and GENCO lobby group managed to recruit corrupt house members like Suswam to carry their water bottle for more government bailouts, loans and slush funds.

This man in one breath agreed that the privatization deal was faulty, but his solution is to keep sending free government money to uphold a faulty system that's not yielding any fruit while at the same time demanding defending of another deal he claimed to be faulty.

See the fast and crooked money game these corrupt house clowns are playing?

Fact is, the DISCOs and GENCOs are nothing but disasters and worthless parasites, they don't want the FG to look elsewhere for our power solutions so they fight and ridicule government efforts.

Reading this article, it's quiet obvious that this man's main angle is for the government to keep flooding the worthless and unproductive DISCO and GENCO with more free government money, they want the $30 million going to the that Azuza power plant and I'm even 100% sure that their claim that the power plant is not performing as expected is total BS.

Just imagine this Suswam discrediting the FG giving honoring agreement with a private power company while advocating for the same FG to keep sending loans to obsolete DISCOs and GENCOs, where is the sense here?

These clowns think we are stupid and we don't know what they are doing,

When was the last time these crooked lawmakers did anything in favor of Nigeria?

Senate Chief Whip, Orji Uzor Kalu, questioned the continuous subsidy paid by government to power companies. He said if the current status quo is maintained, Nigeria will never get it right.

He further argued that the power sector agreement should be revoked to offer opportunities to multinationals to bring in their funds and invest in sector, while lowering the interest rates.

“The sector is not viable. Even if the government puts N600 billion, nothing will change. We need to bring in multinationals to bring in their money. Are we really that stupid? Why did we privatise if we still needed to give them subsidy? Any power company that can’t do its job should give it back to the government. Government has no business giving subsidies to the sector. That can’t work. We need to stop this madness.”

Sam Egwu said: “The privatisation process was fraudulent. I was a board member. Even if we put all the money in the sector, nothing will happen. The privatisation was done in a hurry and we need to ensure we give it to capable hands who can provide electricity.

Not a fan of Orji Uzor Kalu, but this is the one million dollar truth, the privatization deal was rubbish from the beginning, it was a PDP padi padi affair, they sold power assesses to their cronies, cronies with zero power management or generating experience, cronies without funds to grow and expand their business with.

The FG declare a power emergency, introduce a power marshal plan to uproot the whole power system and rebuild from scratch no matter what it takes.

Despite FG’s N1.02 trillion bailout to power sector, Nigerians still in darkness

by ISAAC ANYAOGU On Jul 10, 2018

As at June this year, the Federal Government has committed the sum of N1.023 trillion in different kinds of bailout packages to Nigeria’s floundering power sector yet Nigerians marinate in darkness with power generation at abysmal levels of less than 4,000MW daily.

In 2015, through the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) under the administration of former president Goodluck Jonathan, the Federal Government provided the sum of N213billion as Power Sector MarketStabilisation Fund at concessionary interest rate below market rate to DisCos and GenCos.

https://businessday.ng/uncategorized/article/despite-fgs-n1-02tr-bailout-power-sector-three-years-nigerians-still-darkness/

Yes, we should keep pumping money into obsolete DISCO and GENCO even after giving them N1.02 trillion bailout with darkness in return, this is what the crooked and corrupt lawmakers are demanding.

How much kickbacks are they collecting from the DISCO and GENCO?

Bloody bastards.

This report simply targeted VP Osinbajo. It said many things in general but nothing substantial in particular. We play politics with too many things in this country but lack the capacity for critical and strategic thinking.

My dear senators, the point to start is the IMMEDIATE review of that FAULTY privatization that gave to DISCOS and GENCOS that still guzzle money like dry sand does to water instead generating power. Fix the faulty foundation, first. Any other thing is simply muddling things or looking for money to loot.

The Azura-Edo IPP is also the first Nigerian power project to benefit from the World Bank’s ‘Partial Risk Guarantee’ structure, specifically created to meet the developing needs of emerging markets world-wide, and political risk insurance for equity and commercial debt from the Multilateral Investment Guarantee Agency, also part of the World Bank group. Significantly, the overall transaction will be underpinned by financial support provided by the Federal Government of Nigeria through a Put and Call Option Agreement agreed by Dr Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, the Coordinating Minister for the Economy and Honourable Minister of Finance; complementing the Power Purchase Agreement that was signed in 2013 between Azura and the Nigerian Bulk Electricity Trading PLC (NBET).

Unfortunately for you, your crooked and corrupt uncle Jona and his sidekick madam okonjo negotiated the deal and signed the agreement back in 2013.

You are also not Intelligent enough to know that the deal and agreement was actually signed by Jona and okonjo back in 2013.
