Richard Ayoade born in London to a Nigerian father and a Norwegian mother has become the British pop culture powerhouse.

Richard Ayoade kicked off his various career 20 years ago and since then he has shown off his comedy chops with roles in The Mighty Boosh and The IT Crowd.

Ayoade also directed top-notch British films such as The Double with Eisenberg Jesse, and Submarine with Roberts Craig.

The quirky game show, ‘The Crystal Maze has been hosted by him and several documentary series.

Tonight, as he prepares himself to present the BAFTA TV Awards taking place at 7pm U.K time and the awards will be virtually held because of the coronavirus pandemic.

He became engrossed with J.D Salinger’s Book ‘The Catcher in the Rye’ while growing up


Last year during an interview, Ayoade said he dressed just like Holden Caulfield (The lead character). In the novel, Caulfield bought a red hunting hat after he lost all his fencing gear in the New York subway.
Ayoade recalled he never had a fencing gear, but he still got himself a hunting hat, the one Caulfield wears every time.


He tied the knot with actress Lydia Fox, one of the members of the popular Fox dynasty.
His wife’s brother is Lewis Laurence Fox, while Emilia Fox the Silent witness star and Freddie Fox the Cucumber actor is his wife’s cousin.


For playing the character of the socially challenged MOSS in the IT Crowd movie alongside Katherine Parkinson and Chris O’Dowd, he won a BAFTA TV award and called it a mere Turn.
In 2011, Ayoade told The Guardian that other actors were also good and he wouldn't exalt what he did by calling it acting.


He has directed music videos for indie bands such as Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Kasabian, Arctic Monkeys, Vampire Weekend, Radiohead.
Ayoade directed stars Line of Duty video, Fluorescent Adolescent video, Arctic Monkeys, and much more.


Ayoade studied Law at Cambridge University and he emerged as the president of the Footlights theatrical club.
In 1998, Ayoade served as the president of the famous Footlights club, and during his reign the club was captured in a local TV documentary.
