What does it mean to be flexible in your job search? It simply means that while you are actively looking for a job, you should keep an open mind. Ever since the beginning of the global pandemic, a lot of people have lost their sources of livelihood. A lot of companies and organizations are restructuring and undergoing major changes.

All these changes should be taken into consideration when you are applying for a job, this is because the role you are interested in may not be available at the time, so, you should be open to applying for another role, so as to keep the lights on.

The reality is that a lot of things have changed as a result of the pandemic and professionals need to make adjustments to their expectations. If for instance, you are aspiring for a managerial position, and a company or organization offers you a lesser role, that also fits your profile, it is okay to accept such role.

Accepting a lesser role right now is not in an indictment on your skills or work experiences, it is rather a proof of current realities.

May 2020 statistics from the International Labor Organization (ILO) show that the impact on global labor market estimates will be substantial, and so decreases in employment and increases in labor under-utilization seem inevitable.

Judging from this information, unemployment and unemployment is a global issue as a result of the pandemic. So, as you are waiting for more opportunities, try to focus on different sectors and industries. Be flexible, do not stay rigid when it comes to targeting job roles.

This is why it is important to have a wide range of skills which will come in handy when looking for jobs to keep the lights on. Having a wide range of skills will not only increase your chances of getting a job offer, as opposed to having only one skill.

If you find yourself having only one or two skills, try to get a certification in any of the major relevant fields that have become prominent in this age of the fourth industrial revolution.
