The current IG is one of the most dormant IG in Nigeria history. Police brutality is being reported everyday, but the yeye man never for once issue a statement on this or punish anyone caught in the act to serve as deterrent to others.

Policemen will keep killing innocent people, but wen they are killed by arm robbers, people will be typing rest in peace, forgetting the number of innocent people they have killed and the untold hardship and misery they have caused so many people.

Did our politicians tell you they're ignorant of the way forward?

Let's face the fact. Just as the lay Nigerian is highly intelligent, so also our politicians are highly intelligent people.

I don't believe there's any dullard among. From go-slow Buhari to the diarrhea-mouthed FFK and the dancer-wanna-be-governor of Osun. These people are very brilliant people.

They know where to get help if they're really interested in the interest of this country. It's just that they have 'more important' concerns on their mind like "Edo is not Lagos", "Power must remain in the north" and all sorts of crap.

For example, Obaseki's certificate issue is something that happens to an average Nigerian; mistake in name. Many people's names are wrongly spelt on their NYSC certificate even after filling up to four different forms for verification.

And some people asked Oshiomole to present his primary school certificate yesterday. Yet people were hailing them as if a tenth of them have primary school. Even the few who collected the certificate don't know where they threw it.

You see, it's these vain arguments that they use to dissuade you from the real topic.

Unfortunately, they've kept you all busy with tribal, religious sentiments and vain activities like bbn. So now, the youths have 'more important' issues to discuss rather than deliberate on how to move forward.

Imagine, you people come here to insult your brothers and sisters who are doing their legit hustles. You insult people for hawking gala and selling agbo. These people chose legit hustle over stealing and prostitution but you chose to drag them into your foolish tribalism.

O my God! See your life?!

Bunch of educated literates.

The uneducated folks are offline stabbing themselves in defense of the politicians while the educated literates are online stabbing themselves with lies and tribalism.

I like your perspective

“I believe the human rights desk in the police is weak; I think the
human rights officer in the police should always go out with the
operatives on operation."
A law enforcing compulsory video and audio recordings of dealings with the public (arrests, interogations) with a speedy prosecution and stiff penalties for the lawless touts among them should fix this mess. Anything outside this should be considered kidnapping and extortion.

perfect submission. police officers on duty should wear bodycam.
human right Commission should have operatives to arrest and prosecute any person involving in abuses of human. rights

And the 2nd Citizen of the country is a legal luminary, who has been in power for the past 6 years... What a disgrace to him and to whatever he represent. It clearly shows he's quite incompetent.

How come this article is only about the police force??

What about the SSS. Those over-paid goons babangida unleashed on Nigeria.

They still shot a young guy somewhere in Abuja recently.

They are also guilty of human rights abuse just like the police.

This is what happens when a government and its agencies run a fundamentally flawed institutional principle where d country is seen and handled like a jungle, and the govt and its agencies are wild predators and the citizens are the game they prey upon to destroy day in day out. And then they wonder why the country is almost an irredeemable mess, despite all the natural riches in the land. [s]From 1960 till now, this country has earned over 600 trillions of dollars from oil revenue alone[/s] YET there is nothing spectacular to show for it. Just another thrash 3rd world country at the bottom list among other thrash countries. Till today, [s]Ghana cedi still has more value than naira, despite that our economy is 1000 times bigger than theirs[/s]. Then u just know dat sumtin is fundamentally wrong with dis country Nigeria but we never tell ourselves d truth. We need a govt that will spent 4 years and go and leave us a legacy of stronger, better, more transparent and more accountable public institutions. That is a TRUE LEGACY! A legacy far more valuable and worthwhile than a govt that comes and goes and tells us, i met $16 billion reserves, i left $20 billion when I was going. That is NOT a legacy. Better public institutions with reformed and civilized practices is how to build a country with strong and solid foundation that can carry and grow an outstanding economy on. Without better public institutions, this country will continue going in circles. New day, same shithole

Nigerian police matter taya person...the only solution is to decentralize into state police with completely new sets of recruits engaged by seasoned psychologists, behavioral specialists and professional intelligent security experts.

The civil right unit in the new decentralized police formation should be autonomous with a dedicated department manned by legal, religious and civil right personnel picked outside the police with thesame powers as the state police head to ensure strict compliance of civil laws and and guard against abuse.

Evidence obtained through confessions must be thoroughly examined to determine they are not obtained through torture and if such is observed such officer(s) be arrested as treated like criminals.

Evidence gathering in the new formation should be forensic and intelligent driven with fully functioning digital data base comprising biometric etal.

Remuneration for police officers should measure upto standard with complete medical and life insurance cover for officers and their families.

The police force short be properly equipped, trained and trained to keep them abreast with changing trends.

Please don't except it is for an important thing concerning family else don't, my bro left Nigeria 10 years ago during his teenage age, thinking that things would have change a little but same shithole but after the lock down he would be leaving soon. How can I stay in a country with no electricity, every where darkness, heat,no traffic and street lights on the road, pot holes on road everywhere so disorganized. What a country.

No salt an pepper anywhere. No exaggeration. Plain facts and truth only
presently 1 cedi = 65 naira, check it ursef online
Average production pd crude oil = 2.5m bpd x $60 (average price) X 365 days X 50 yrs old (let's even cut d years to make up some gaps)
========= 274 trillion dollars approx by rough calculation.

Now d experts dat have more accurate info dan I do about it, put the stats at an estimate of 606 trillion dollars. I kid u not. Google it.
