The Chinese government says there’s no clause in the $500 million loan it gave to Nigeria that include taking over its sovereignty.

The House of Representatives had in the probe of Chinese loans to Nigeria alleged that the agreements ceded Nigeria’s sovereign right on the assets financed by the loans to China if there was payment default.

However, the Chinese foreign ministry in a statement debunked the claim saying the country had no such plan.

“We follow a “five-no” approach in our relations with Africa: no interference in African countries’ pursuit of development paths that fit their national conditions; no interference in African countries’ internal affairs; no imposition of our will on African countries; no attachment of political strings to assistance to Africa; and no seeking of selfish political gains in investment and financing cooperation with Africa,” the ministry quoted President Xi Jinping, as saying at the FOCAC Beijing Summit in 2018.

The ministry added that “China is committed to enhancing investment and financial cooperation with African countries based on their needs to help them improve infrastructure and extradite socioeconomic development.

By funding infrastructure and other areas that lag behind for short of money, we have helped the relevant countries break bottlenecks, enhance their capacity for independent development, realize social and economic sustainable development, and improve people’s livelihood.

Such cooperation has delivered tangible benefits to African countries and peoples.

“In the process, China always gives full consideration to debt sustainability and seeks mutually-acceptable proposals through equal and friendly consultations.

That is the fundamental reason behind the enormous popularity of China-Africa cooperation in Africa.”

Your leaders wasted your wealth, leaving you without basic infrastructure.

China was ready to lend you money to treat the F*ck up of your leaders but made sure that your leaders won't do to their money what they did to your money.

Yet some Nigerian are yarning opata. The funny thing is that even young Nigerians are not bothered that Nigeria in 2020 has no functional train transportation routes. Yet, when time the for election comes, they will get Atikulated or Sarakified.

Look, if China gives any country money to build a facility and then it fails to repay, it is only natural that they will take over the facility like our own AMCON does and run to recover their money and interest. At least, the facility is in the country, providing jobs. There is price to be paid for stupid visionless leadership.

If Nigeria's debt increased from $7Bn to $23Bn in 5years with a debt to revenue ratio of about 90%, currently battling with recession alongside depression and world poverty capital, with the future of oil dependent economies not looking so good coupled with our massive appetite for corruption, what is the probability we can sustain a debt repayment of 20years?

A better alternative would have been "Build, operate and transfer" amongst private investors whom would share both the ups and downs of the economy how ever way it goes during the period.. as it is , the infrastructure is still being run by same corrupt Nigerian Government whom can never be trusted.

Do NOT trust China.

China has a policy of not interfering in the internal affairs of other countries. It has been their policy for a very long time.
The western countries that exploited Africa for 500 years only built infrastructure they needed to steal from Africa and nothing else.

I guess we both agree that only a fool will lend you billions of dollars without an agreement on how to get their money back. There's indeed nothing like a free meal.

Okay. Go check your signature, does your signature contains $500 million? You want to collect loan but you down want any condition or put down collateral, is China father Xmas? Go and meet your US and EU for loans without collateral nah? If Arabs want to give you loan without any condition, you children of hate and anger will still scream, they want to Islamize Nigeria, yet your brothers and sisters are selling your family land to travel to become Slaves in Arabs lands.

Nonsense without ingredients.
