…Says He Has Wrecked Economic Activities In Owo

The Indigenes of Owo, the home town of Governor Rotimi Akeredolu have vowed to work against his reelection in the forthcoming governorship poll.

The indigenes under the aegis of Owo Youths For Sustainable Development said Akeredolu who is the candidate of All Progressives Congress (APC) for Ondo 2020 has wrecked their economic activities with his maladministration and insensitivity to welfare of Rufus Giwa Polytechnic Staff.

The group in a statement issued on Thursday by its Coordinator, Adedayo Olagbegi noted that Rufus Giwa Polytechnic Staff and students are main drivers of Owo Economic Activities, saying non payment of salaries, increment in tuition fee and frequent industrial strike are having negative effect on the indigenes.

Olagbegi said: ”Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu has caused alot of havoc to indigenes and residents of Owo. We are also feeling the negative impact of increment of tuition fees and percentage payment to Rufus Giwa Polytechnic staff. The landlords, traders, artisans, transport workers and others are indirectly sharing in suffering as well as pains of the polytechnic staff and students. The school population has reduced drastically due to increment in school fees, the staff are always going on strike under Akeredolu.

”No significant change in Owo town in the last four years despite having a son as governor. Akeredolu does not deserve second term and we shall mobilise our people against him. Only his family are enjoying government benefits, dividends of democracy should be for everybody. We will not use sentiment to vote during October 10 governorship election.”

The group advised the youths, elders, women and others not to sell their votes for another four years of suffering.

Ondo election would have been a tightly contested race if Agboola Ajayi had team up with Jegede on the PDP ticket.

If they both vie for governship separately on a different platform, it might give ease of access to Akeredolu's 2nd term victory
