I love your post. It is America that is becoming irrelevant by losing hold of a strategic nation in Africa like Nigeria. America is so desperate that they wanted to twart AFDBank's president, Adesina's relection so that we will not have access to loans to develop our country and come begging at their doorsteps. America is losing Nigeria to China and they are desperate to reverse the tune of events. When you talk of the group of educated emigrants in America making a difference, you are talking of Nigerians but they will rather paint us black to achieve their sinister aims. Nigeria has abundant resources and we have the market that can make foreign investors a lot of money due to our population. America brings nothing but destruction, like they did in the Iraq, Libya, Yemen and so on. As at the 60s, America was spending billions of dollars to fight a war in Vietnam. Can you imagine the wastage? As "great" as America claims to be there is no comprehensive health care for every citizen, Corona virus made us realize this. What of education? Their higher education is one of the most expensive, with student debt growing every year. Meanwhile, their counterparts in Europe have free education. America is the one losing influence not Nigeria. They should go and settle their issues and leave us to settle ours.

You see the problem with Nigerians?

When the obvious is pointed to you
You will bury your head like an ostrich

Nigeria is losing a lot of influence on the continent
That's a fact
Part of the reason why this is the case is because of the joke we have as leadership

You are talking of America

Unlike deluded Nigerians
The Americans have come to terms with the tight corner they have been put in, by Trumos foreign policy missteps

And they are working on how to stem the tide from going further astray

But here in Nigeria
Because someone is collecting N200k salary and is eating rice and chicken and can manage one or two luxuries
Nothing is wrong with nigeria
And whoever points to our problems dont know what he is saying

Make una continue down this road

Let's see what Nigeria will become in 10 years

The only thing Nigeria has to boast of right now is population. The leaders are not in tune with the suffering of the masses. The masses no longer care about effective governance. They've been so impoverished and terrorised all they're interested in is food in the belly and a roof over the head.
The government has lost all interest in trying to develop the economy, we're still heavily reliant on the proceeds from selling crude oil.
The lifespan of the average Nigerian keeps getting shorter and shorter by the day. Because if you don't die through a road accident, you might be kidnapped and killed, or you might die in the corridors of a government hospital while it's striking, or you might die from hypertension trying to think where your next meal is coming from. If bomb blast doesn't kill you, a fuel tanker, or a truck might, or maybe the sharp blade of a bandits knife.
Nigeria has failed. Nigeria has fallen.

OP did a good job in detailing the reduced influence of Nigeria and to the world. He added Korea of today even though they have corruption going on but still have all project going on and that's why it's most 11 best economies.

Nigeria is a county fighting within

The handwriting is slowly being written on the wall. The west is seriously losing hope in Nigeria as a nation.

Population means little if there is nothing positive coming from it. Those saying population should remember that china has always had the worlds largest population and that did not mean anything until it started to rise from the 70's.

What the world is looking for in Nigeria is for a country that can pull itself up and by extension pull the rest of Africa up. All they see is bad news and they are ready to settle for a divided Nigeria that is dynamic than a giant whale that is helpless and laborious.

El rufai suddenly said its the turn of the south because they have passed a message to him not because of any kind gesture from him.

The west has recently been more open about the murders of Christians. El rufai about face and a more vocal west in regards to christian lives as well as open articles like this. All this is not a coincidence.

The writer is saying the truth, but they will dismiss it like they used to.
Many people including the elites don't really understand how terribly bad things have become in this nation presently.

The present leadership worsened it
Nigeria has never been divided like it is now.
No sense of patriotism
The economy, security is nothing to write home about.

They should continue living like an ostrich with his head in the sand

Population is massively increasing
There is no real transformation , inspirational leadership

Does Nigerians really understand what's going on?

If you fail to plan you have planned to fail
.

Its pertinent to note that you are part of the problems of Nigeria.

"The present leadership worsened it

This is just the undiluted about the Nigeria Economy, we are no longer the giant of Africa, the reality of our irrelevance in the world economy more particularly, Africa, stares at us. The much hallowed Oil producing nation is on the fast dwindling lane.
Are we cursed? No .
Can something be done to change the Narrative? Yes
2023 is coming, Never mortgage your interest on the premise of a promise of selfish Aggrandizement.

All I can Garner in this piece is we don't need to fight corruption and and we don't need this sanctimonious government to chant we are fighting corruption when Nigeria is becoming a laughing stock in the commity of Nations.

When UK and America stop our leaders from finding succor in foreign lands and make theiving politicians to not feel at home in foreign lands , only then would we have development in this country.

And if they change to the UAE like they are doing, the US and UK should stop the Emiratis from providing succor to Nigerian politicians? When has the responsibility of holding Country A's politicians become that of Country's B rather than Country's A citizens?

When Nigerians learn to understand that ethnic bigotry and religious chauvinism won't take the country anywhere, then maybe she will become somewhat relevant.

The covert and overt plan of action is to elevate 4% of the population into almost godlike power and opulence while the 96% wallow in enforced penury.
They fail to understand that the fate of the 96% will be used to characterize the nation, and you cannot build walls high enough to keep the disenfranchised away from their country, even if you feel you and your preferred elements are not on the same level of humanity as they.
PATHETIC!

Nigerians are not the only educated immigrants in USA. The Iranian, Indian and Chinese are not only educated, they are major players in Silicon Valley and Wall Street.

Abundant resources that are being depleted by Chinese and Europeans. Nigeria, after 60ys of self-rule cannot extract or refine the oil that their country depend on, despite the president being the minister of petroleum.

200 million unharnessed, disempowered, disunited, misruled, oppressed people? Colonized from within, polarized by militant religion, plagued by rulers beating the drums of war and unconcernedly picking their teeth while violent and merciless marauders spill blood like water, with vanishing annual budgets and spiralling debt profiles? Did I forget a vocal band of praise singers who are paid peanuts?

Let's tell ourselves the truth before it's too late.

You, my brother, are on point. Let's forget where the guy is from and process the message. Nigeria won't be so great in future if we continue toeing the path we are on presently. More than 75% Nigerians are poor and if they think Nigeria is a mockery, then be sure it is. The rich can stay in their cocoon and assume 200 million ill-motivated and oppressed people will help them maintain relevance. Soon enough, they'll realise its shape up or ship out for them.

Nigeria is a mockery. It’s not only poor people that say it. Some of us who live outside Nigeria can see it and hear of it. The only people who think Nigeria is anything are Nigerians themselves who continue to celebrate 15 minutes of electricity once a week.
In the next few years many countries will begin refusing to allow Nigerians into their territory. Tell me, Apart from Boko Haram and 419, what is Nigeria known for across the world?

It's not that simple, the military and Co will have no qualms in killing as many civilians as they can in order to maintain the status quo.

We might not see a change unless you are ready to fight the government or the military and Co decide to rebel from within.

Although I doubt that would happen soon because Nigerians love to sing "one day e go better" and be praying for a somewhat better future or to enjoy in the afterlife.

And do u know how many of that 200million are in poverty?? Do u think it’s India’s poor millions of people that’s helping the country?? They are extra baggage mostly. undecided

Ur population is only potential energy and it can be redundant if u don’t develop it as make it an effective population figure.
