Did You Know?

You'll find members of the LGBT community at most Pagan gatherings, and many Pagan clergy members are happy to perform same-sex handfastings and weddings.

Former pastor Haynes sentenced to life in prison

A former Toledo pastor said the 27 months he’s spent away from his children during a pending child sex-trafficking case was already comparable to a life prison sentence.

Anthony Haynes, 40, the former leader of Greater Life Christian Center, told visiting U.S. District Court Judge Bernard Friedman Thursday that he doesn’t deserve life in prison for grooming a then 14-year-old girl to have sex with him and then-pastors Cordell Jenkins and Kenneth Butler.

“I don’t deserve life. I don’t deserve life,” Haynes said during a sermon-like speech. “Like I said, I’ve been doing life for 27 months while I’ve been away from my children and this hurts ... my need today is for you to have mercy on Anthony Haynes.”

While Judge Friedman said he felt sympathy for Haynes’ five children, they were not the ones who committed the crimes. The judge said he didn’t even think such a case would exist because of the “disgusting, horrible” things that occurred. Additionally, Haynes displayed a lack of remorse, Judge Friedman said.

Haynes was sentenced to life in federal prison for leading the near three-year-long sex-trafficking scheme.

“Society relies on people of trust ...  It’s totally violated here and we have to send a message,” Judge Friedman said.

Haynes turned and waved to his children as restraints were placed around his waist.

It started when the teenage girl moved in with the Haynes family in 2014 after her mother could no longer provide adequate care for her, investigators said.

Haynes then facilitated the victim to have sex with Jenkins, the leader of Abundant Life Ministries, and Butler, a Detroit-area pastor. They each previously pleaded guilty and have been sentenced — Jenkins to life in prison, Butler to 17½ years.

Haynes took his case to trial in March, and a federal jury found him guilty of engaging in sex-trafficking with a minor, sex-trafficking of a minor, sexual exploitation of a minor, and obstructing a sex-trafficking investigation.

During Haynes’ trial, the victim — who is now 19 — testified, claiming Haynes had sex with her at his church, in his vehicle, at motels, and inside a storage area where he worked. There were also photographs of her performing MouthAction on him on his phone.

She also testified that she had been taken to the church and a hotel to have sex with Butler, and she and Jenkins had sex at his church, his home, and at a Red Roof Inn.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Michael Freeman said Haynes used his position as a pseudo-parent and a clergyman to take advantage of the girl.

Haynes knew she was a prior victim of sexual assault and preyed on her, later inviting his pastor friends to do the same. Eventually, he encouraged the girl to get more money, Mr. Freeman said.

Family members of Haynes said Thursday that his sentence was not proportional to similar crimes, but Mr. Freeman called the case haunting for parents, as it involved “ripping the innocence from the victim.”

Mr. Freeman read from a letter prepared by the victim, in which she thanked the pastors for making her a stronger person in the end. She has also started her own organization to help survivors of sex-trafficking.

Haynes took a deep breath and looked at the ceiling, but otherwise he generally looked at Mr. Freeman over the rim of his glasses as the letter was read aloud.

Haynes apologized to his children, his family, the church, and the victim.

His attorneys, John Thebes and Peter Wagner, continually referred to him as “reverend” and said that he has touched the hearts of many through his work in the church. The defense attorneys said a life prison sentence was disproportionate to the crime and asked Judge Friedman to consider the pastor’s entire life’s work.

Federal prosecutors urged the judge to sentence Haynes to life in prison for his egregious conduct with the victim, and because other children have come forward with similar claims of sex crimes involving the pastor, Mr. Freeman said. Federal prosecutors claim Haynes opened his home to two minor children and then began abusing them. Additional charges potentially could be filed with the state.

Mr. Thebes argued the introduction of such claims without going through the proper legal procedures has no place in court.

Mr. Freeman said prosecutors made defense counsel aware of the allegations and they had “ample notice that the government was going to use that information.”

Judge Friedman said he intended to sentence Haynes based on the actions he was charged and the new allegations would not be considered.

Last month, the former pastor filed a motion on his own behalf, requesting a new defense attorney, though he did not provide many specifics because he did not want to provide “trial strategy” to the government, according to the document.

Judge Friedman denied Haynes’ motion Thursday, saying those are matters to be addressed during an appeal, and Haynes also noted in his motion that his attorneys were competent. Judge Friedman noted he would appoint a different attorney for appeals purposes.

The girl and her guardian — who both attended Jenkins’ church at the time of the crimes — previously disclosed a series of racy text messages between the girl and the pastors to Laura Lloyd, the now ex-wife of Jenkins. Instead of notifying authorities, Lloyd — a former county administrator — called her husband and Haynes to warn them of a likely investigation.

Lloyd was sentenced to 21 months in federal prison for her role.

Jenkins has since filed a notice of appeal to the 6th U.S. Circuit Court regarding his plea and life sentence.

Pending in relation to this case is that of Haynes’ wife and stepdaughter. Alisa Haynes and Alexis Fortune are accused of kidnapping and threatening the girl to not testify in the trial against Haynes.

So a Black American pastor defiled a 13 yr old girl then threatened her with Voodoo if she told. So as you can see they are in the church and practicing paganism.

I keep saying Christianity is a pagan religion. It was founded by pagans and has no relation with Biblical Hebrews. Secret societies are pagan devil worship by Christians.

Christianity is pagan witchcraft and if you watch they will tell you how it works. It's always been hidden inside secret societies of pagans who started Roman Christianity as a mask.
