Great interview from a great mind. An intelligent business man making a case study for burdening entrepreneurs. No country develop by depending on foreign consumption.
Our discussion should rather be on how the company can produce affordable cars for Nigerians. Products will get better over time with internal consumption, which will make company invest more in R&D. The company can in the future develop and build their own engine. Car parts are not completely produce by the auto brands, they source most parts from other companies that specialises in making those parts. For example, Bosch produces lot of parts for the auto industry. This man could have invested in neighbouring countries but chose to do in Nigeria. Please let encourage our own, it make sense to do so.

The place where you hope to get your largest orders...

... Will echo these your very own words.

Then you will remember that what goes around comes around.

They are coming to Africa to make profit and not lose¹ they want to make as much profits as possible and go. They are not interested to build us.

I Love this man, ever since I have read his stories few years back I have loved him

Why is SW not patronizing including northern, and other Eastern Nigera, the truth of the matter is we are all hypocrites

Just imagine if SW gvts have supported this man we might be lucky to have an indigenous car manufacturing company on this side.

Buy Nigera to build Nigeria has been sabotaged by our governmentss

This is because when you go into any business, you have to put your own ideas in it and when you do, the difference will be clear and you can make more money than others. You can also drop the business when you think there isn’t much interest in it again. So, to succeed in any business, don’t follow the crowd, always bring your own initiatives. With that, you will be able to make profits.

B4 now, Innoson didn't strike me as a wonderful entrepreneur. But after reading up his strategy on the bike business, I will like to have some training under him.

I pray we get there soon. The level of tribal hatred in this country is sickening. Take nairaland for example with the thousands of tribal warfare that goes on daily. What a shame.

I am from the South South but I admire and respect the achievements of the innoson group.

Until we stop seeing everything as a regional issue we are going nowhere. What a country undecided

True
We the masses have to stop hating ourselves the real problem is our leaders not the Yoruba or IBO man out there

No need to bring tribalism into this one. This is not a tribalism issue.

Let's stop deceiving ourselves. Tribalism will always be a major issue. As it stands now, nothing can correct it. Let's all put our tribe first in everything before any other tribe.

It's almost a waste of time putting in any effort to make Nigeria sane. How can the legislature of a country with the largest number of poor people globally choose, almost biannually, to expend scarce FX on buying expensive foreign automobiles at the expense of a budding Nigerian brand (however "inferior" they think it is). This is nothing short of madness!

I was watching a program shot around 2008/10 on Aljazeera about India and the struggle to gain admission into the prestigious Indian Institute of Technology (IIT). To my amazement, a senior police officer of a rank somewhat equivalent to a CP had a Fiat Padmini as official vehicle! Up to the early 2000s, the PM of India was using the Hindustan Ambassador (an iconic car) for state functions. This is an India with an economy almost 7 times the size of ours!

Ideally, what should be the business of officials of a country with over 100 million poor people (highest globally) with expensive foreign automobiles?

When some dunces want to make excuses, they'd say Innoson is not a proven brand, or that it is an imitation of a Chinese brand. So what! It employs Nigerians; pays taxes and duties into the Nigerian coffers; it is making our auto industry kick and it is putting us on the map of automobile manufacturers! Commonsensically, against what some lunatics would infer by saying "moving coffins", if the IVM brand of automobiles were not safe, foreign countries wouldn't even come near it.

China kicked off by imitating Western automobile designs and concepts, exactly what IVM is doing. Today, it is leading the US in the race for 5G technology and breaking new bounds in other areas.

This is a country of foolish, myopic and ignorant people.

Stop wasting your energy bro, all this sense you're making here means nothing to the tribal bigots who have clinched onto power like it's their birthright. They want dangote to start making automobiles so they can now make it an official brand for the govt. The tribalism and foolishness here is weakening.

The issue is we have learnt to be critic of everything around us which is as a result of bad governance over the years... Nigerians have gotten used to living mediocre life. If only we can change our thinking patterns.
