Presidential aide, Lauretta Onochie, has responded to the presiding Bishop of Living Faith Church, David Oyedepo, over the comments he made regarding the new Companies and Allied Matters Act, 2020.

CAMA, which was recently assented to by President Muhammadu Buhari, had introduced new regulations for religious institutions in the country.

Its provisions include that religious and charity organisations would henceforth be regulated by a supervising minister and the registrar-general of Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC).

Oyedepo had cautioned the federal government against meddling in the affairs of churches, saying “don’t try it when this crude prophet is alive”.

The fiery Preacher, during his sermon on Sunday, expressed concern that the government could someday appoint occultists into those positions to oversee church affairs.

But responding in a tweet on Monday, Buhari’s media aide, Onochie, said it’s either Oyedepo lived by the laws governing the country or he should create his own country.

“Oyedepo will have to manufacture his own country and live by his own laws.

“As long as he lives and operates within the entity called Nigeria, he will live by Nigerian rules and laws. He will do as he’s told by the law. Enough of lawlessness,” said the presidential aide..

Romans 13 vs 1-2

Let everyone be subject to the governing authorities, for there is no authority except that which God has established. The authorities that exist have been established by God.

2 Consequently, whoever rebels against the authority is rebelling against what God has instituted, and those who do so will bring judgment on themselves.

This is food for thought... Baba Oyedepo was very observant to have mentioned this. We are all aware that Nigerian politicians and occultism are like 5&6.

It would be wrong for any Christian to say just because he wants to be law abiding, they would allow an external person oversee church activities...

Let them try all their stunts with Muslims...no, it's only the churches, because Muslims have always made it known that they are not gentle!

Laurenta Onoche I doubt if GMB send you the message you are delivering on his behalf. You and I know how issues of religion and tribe can be very sensitive and dangerous to corporate existing of a country. Nigeria has been sharply divided under GMB than ever. To now think that under such environment of mutual suspicion, a Muslim president will have to appoint a Minister and DG of CAC that will now regulate the activities of Churches that he never share their beliefs is dangerous.Worst still, Mr President will likely appoint a Muslim or one political stooge to execute his desire is counter productive.

I will like to appeal to National Assembly to quickly stop this time bomb. Allow. Churchesand Mosquea minimal supervision.

.....and the most unfortunate aspect is that, after making the Laws/ decrees, they will allow Christians to react and fight over it while the occultists and others watch with arms akimbo cry

Our religious leaders obey the laws of foreign land where they have branches but they come here and tell Government how to treat them.

Because the Church is more organized than the mosque.

Churches that are already under conventions and they have laid down rules that govern them, what is it with FG that wants to appoint Managers over religion institutions.

Reason why Christians are fuming is because they are already organized, everyone knows his congregation and spiritual heads unlike muslims that have mosques everywhere and Imam can be changed anytime.

So why appointing someone over them one idiot was even boasting that they can close Churches account. Was it FG that generate the money for them.

And for your information don't confused speaking out for obvious oppression with unprovoked violence that some Muslims are known for.

No law can harm the church if the church put it's acts together and maintain credibility. There are state laws in the north that are anti-christian still there is no state in Nigeria where churches have not thrived.

The recent inconsistencies in church administrations in recent times is the reason govt may have to turn it's eyes on the church. Let the church in Nigeria clean up itself and govt will not need to regulate directly. This is why bodies like CAN and PFN exists, these are bodies thru which govt can regulate things but unfortunately no pastor including Oyedepo himself is ready to be accountable to anybody as everyone claim God sent him and not any man. As long as no church was not built in the air or in the spirit realm but on the earth that we all live in, they must be accountable. You can check in the western world and see how churches are well regulated.

Stop yarning dust. Whatever he said there can equally be applied to Mosques.

"Its provisions include that religious and charity organisations would henceforth be regulated by a supervising minister and the registrar-general of Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC)."

As if the same scenario can't be applied to Mosques:
"The fiery Preacher, during his sermon on Sunday, expressed concern that the government could someday appoint occultists into those positions to oversee mosque affairs."

When the law first emerged under GEJ's government he said nothing. His churches in UK are also regulated by similar regulations but daddy g.o only gets to be angry when his favoured candidate isn't involved.

Madam you are very wrong, you can't use that verse on this matter. so if Federal Government wish to install Satan or Christian enemy to control them... we should just fold our hands and subject to the authority right?. it won't happen..

Madam, you can’t say that I’m wrong. I only quoted a verse in the Bible.

Am I the writer of that verse?
Are you trying to say the verse is wrong?
