The University of Lagos UNILAG Senate today made history with the election of Professor Folasade Tolulope Ogunshola, as it’s acting vice chancellor.

62 year-old Ogunshola is the first female vice chancellor of the prestigious university in it’s 58 years of history, TheConscience gathers.



Ogunshola had defeated Prof. Ben Oghojafor, a fellow deputy vice chancellor
and emerged winner with 135 votes to 31 for Oghojafor

Though thrown up by an unfortunate circumstance leading to the exit of Professor Oluwatoyin Ogundipe, Professor Folashade Ogunshola nee Mabogunje is a woman of many firsts and laurels.

Ogunsola is a Nigerian professor of medical microbiology specializing in disease control, particularly HIV/AIDS.
