And how long are we going to keep suffering. The taxes we pay is there anything to show for it from the governor's side. They keep increasing everything and we are in the losing side all the time. What have you as a Nigerian benefited from this country?

As long as d majority of Nigerians remain docile& fight over frivolities like BBN, premier league, Messi vs Ronaldo in d face of suffering, then Nigerians will keep suffering. As long as majority of Nigerians keep going for political campaigns& voting for d same set of politicians who are their oppressors instead of fighting for their rights, then Nigerians will keep suffering

How do one determine the R2 from R3 on a prepaid meter??

R3 users are residential customers who have a dedicated transformer of theirs either in their own compound or right outside their premises. Such are found in private estates and homes of the rich.

The government who promise to get Nigerians back to PHCN is now helping a private entity to swindle Nigerians. Rather than make PHCH reallty the government keep bailing them out always for darkness at the expense of the poor. They have secretly increased tarrif few months ago and told Nigerians they have not increased. With this now, it means they ate increasing the tarrif twice in two or three month. If disco's says they just increased it then means they have manipulated the meter fraudulently. This is not pa Buhari doing this but the many faces that have turned themselves as the president of Nigeria. It is disheartening that the World Bank can dictate to Nigerian government to increase tarrif to further impoverish the already starving Nigerians whilst there was no help from them for palliative for food as result of Covid-19. This increment is for further darkness. The poor Nigerians are the collateral used for World Bank loan. What a shame and insensitive to the plights of the 99.9 percent of the Ngerian poor.

Even as a strong critic of the dullard, will commend him on this, if it’s fully enforced. There was just no sense in expecting an Ikoyi boy to pay same tariffs with a Mushin boy.

Will further advise that luxury items should also be taxed heavily.

Lolz.

Check your bill to see where you belong - R1, R2 or R3. You're likely under R2.
An Ikoyi mansion owner with connection to the distribution office can even be on R3 while you're on R2 - be there deceiving yourself.

R1 and R2 would pay more.

On the contrary, R1 customers are the lowest paying tariffs in the NESI as they pay N4/kWh across ALL distribution companies.

As I indicated earlier, R3 customers are those with dedicated distribution transformers - rather than a back and forth about this - simply check NERC website or the websites of any distribution company (DisCo).

Disco's has done capturing for anybody that has a prepaid Meter or has a bill to his/her address. Classification of buildings was done during this capturing

The meter you paid for, yet phcn will say they are the owner?

You get it, the burden will be more on R1 & R2 forget all the lies by NERC that R3 will pay more.
Ask yourself, how many people are on R3 in Nigeria?

From the post, the basis for classification appears to be based on residential areas being categorised as rich or poor smiley. Meanwhile in some cases, rich people build or live amongst people in poor residential areas and vice versa. How will that be sorted?

You cannot completely eliminate inefficiency. But I think the regulation did well. I hope Discos will not stop giving power to area with low income designation

I don't support this, poverty index in Nigeria shows that there are more poor people living in the north than south so the South will be paying their electricity bill even though a lot of the super rich Nigerians are from the north. People should either pay based on their income or based on what they consume.

Why will you commend this when the earning power of Nigerians is at its lowest ever ..

The issue between the rich areas and the poor areas shouldn't even come up because Naturally the rich spend more on Electricity because the naturally consume far more per hour than the poor can even consume in week and so this makes up for any disparity ... We should be careful about making succeess look like evil and stop all this pitching the poor against the rich because of politics ...can the poor pay the amount tax the rich pays ? Can the poor contribute to society like the rich does ?

And lets not forget most Nigerians highbrow areas are also filled with average and poor people .... Besides what criteria is even used to Judge this ... the only factor that should be used is metering and it's already done ..those with 3 phase meters pay more for both the meter and electricity than those with single phase

Spot-on
