Pillows are essential for a good night’s sleep, however; this may not apply to everyone. While some people may find it inconveniencing to use a pillow, it might serve as a support provider for some other persons. A pillow supports the body especially the head and neck region, it aligns the neck. Some types of pillows include; throw pillows, body pillows, decorative pillows, and many more. A pillow that aids sleeping is a form of bedding that guarantees support.

Finding the right type of pillow that suits your sleep position can be a bit challenging especially in a market saturated with many brands and quality of pillows, picking the right pillow for the right amount becomes paramount.

Things to Consider When Looking for a Pillow

Firmness
You have to put into consideration the fact that a pillow will lose its firmness over time. If you fold your pillow in half and it does not return to its normal shape, then it is time to buy a new pillow. A pillow can be soft, medium, or firm, whatever your preference may be, make sure it gives you the support you need.

Fill
A pillow’s filling could be synthetic, fiber, crushed foam chips, feather or memory foam. The pillow filling will determine the cost of the pillow and ultimately its comfort level and suitability to its user.

Size
The standard sizes of pillows in Nigeria vary. They could be, small, medium, jumbo, customized sizes, king, and queen sizes. Pillow prices in Nigeria

Below we have broken the different types of pillows available in the Nigerian market and the price they could go for. This way shopping for a pillow becomes easier, as you go into the market with a price range at the back of your mind. Although prices vary as there are different brands in the market, this would help guide your budget to a great extent. These are the major categories of pillow found in the market:

Regular Pillows
This is a conventional pillow; its major component is crushed foam crumbs. These types of pillows offer minimal support for the neck and spinal but come at a price range of about 1500-2000 naira. It is ideal for people with a low budget.

Fiber Pillows
As the name suggests, its major component is the synthetic fiber, these types of pillows are breathable (that is it does not trap air), they are soft, loft, and very cushy. They offer adequate support to the neck, if you sleep on your side, you will want a thicker, and possibly firmer pillow to support your neck. They cost between 2000 to 6000 naira depending on the brand you are purchasing.

Memory Pillows
This type of pillow is extremely supportive, molding to the shape of the sleeper’s head and offering consistent support across the entire pillow. They are often recommended for people with neck and back problems. On the downside, they are not as breathable as the fiber pillows but they sure promise cushiness and a suiting feel that makes you want to hold on to it every time you lay on your bed. They cost between 5000 to 10000 naira depending on your size preference.

Pillows do not last forever, but the right choice of pillow will last at least two to three years before it loses its bounce, also you should consider buying a pillow that would be relatively easy to care for; that is, a pillow that can be washed and maintained.

The Nigerian flag is the most drab-looking flag in the whole wide world. That pillow looks mighty drab.
