A deluded individual.

Since you are Nigerian then you must begin

To speak Nigerian apart from English Language.

To dress Nigerian apart from Western outfits

Have a Nigerian name apart from a foreign name

You already did all the above.

Impossible in today's generation of Nigerians. It is a bit late to me. Let's devolve to our respective regions and build from there.

So you want us all to renounce the tribal identity handed down to us all from our ancestors for thousands of years to assume "Nigerian", the identity that Lord Lugards girlfriend, Flora shaw, gave us?

Is that not madness?

How can a sane person wake up and say he will renounce the ethnic identity handed down to him by his ancestors to adopt a colonial identity the British imposed on him?

How can anyone be this daft?

The recent current of the #BlackLivesMatter movement in the US has surged tremendously in Nigeria – a country in the thrall of its own unique kind of ‘’racism’’ – tribalism. Nigerians held protests at the embassy of the US in Abuja, condemning the murder of many African-American. Really, while the protests are for a righteous cause, no doubt, we need to re-wheel and deepen them to square up to our own fundamental imbalances.

The US is a society that is attuned to its frailties and rises to the occasion when need be to confront them. While there are laws to address issues of racism in America like the Civil Rights Act of 1964, there are no laws assiduously tackling tribalism in Nigeria. In fact, the laws we have in Nigeria are designed to accent tribalism and nepotism; for example, the Quota System, ‘’Federal Character Principle’’ and ‘’catchment area’’ policy.

I must say, while the Quota System and the Federal Character Principle were ideated to rugby-tackle concerns of ethnic representation in the public sector, they have over the years become the fulcrums on which tribalism, nepotism and ethnic dominance are scaffolded. These policies have also enthroned incompetence, discrimination, lack of healthy competition, indolence and indiscipline in the national life while supplanting meritocracy and competence.
We really have got to make Nigeria work for all Nigerians.

We live in country where to transact any official matter you have to declare your ‘’state of origin’’ and not your ‘’state of residence’’ – even when you have lived in a particular area in the country since your nativity.

I recall, in March, the Cross River state house of assembly rejected the appointment of Akon Ikpeme as substantive chief judge of the state — because she is from Akwa Ibom, even though she is married to a Cross Riverian.

In a voice vote at a plenary session, the assembly rejected Ikpeme’s appointment after receiving a report by the committee on judiciary. In the report, Godwin Akwaji, representing Obudu state constituency, and five others, recommended her rejection on the loony grounds that she is not a native of the state. Ikpeme hails from Akwa Ibom state, but she is married to an indigene of Cross River.

Is this not apartheid? We subsist on the worst kind of discrimination based on tribe and religion. And what is more tragic is that these prejudices are institutionalised.

We cannot pontificate on racism in the US, when some Nigerians cannot buy land in certain parts of the country. We cannot sit in judgment on racism in the US, when some Nigerians kill other citizens in the cognomen of ethnicity and religion. We cannot be indignant with racism in America when some Nigerians cast ethnic slurs like — Inyamiri, Ofe nmanu, Aboki – on their fellow countrymen. We cannot be more outraged by a foreign blight than by the sickening plight of our own people and the system. That is classical hypocrisy.

We must begin to erode ‘’tribal identities’’ and revive the ‘’Nigerian identity’’ to make progress as one country. I am Nigerian. That is my tribal identity.

You call it nationalism in Europe but calls it tribalism in Africa.

Foolish

NIgerians must not misunderstand the gift of different tribes.

Jesus came from the tribe of Judah. It was a Crucial part of Christs identity on Earth that is why Christ was described as the Lion of the tribe of Judah.

God created different tribes to make the Nation as beautiful as the Rainbow with different Tribes bringing different gifts and blessings to that one Nation in which God Created then.

Isreal had 12 tribes and each tribe received a different blessing and Promise from God when Moses blessed Isreal.

Moses blessed Isreal tribe by tribe.

The Levites Produced the Priests and Temple Workers no other tribe was allowed that role though Prophets could come from any tribe

The men of the tribe of Issachar who had the gift of understanding times and seasons went to make David king.

The Yoruba, Igbo,Hausa,Ijaw,Benin Kanuri,Birom Fulani ,Nupe ,Efik. all have special gifts and blessings which God gave them all so that his Purpose can be Carried out in the Nation as the different Classes of Angels Carry out God's Will in Heaven and on Earth.

The problem is not 'trabalisim' it is the fact that the basis for this 'is imperfect. You can not expect people to suddenly 'wipe out' their ethnic identities. Why should they. In Switzerland there are German Swiss, Frnech Swiss and Italian Swiss, and they have a system of government that works. In Span you have the catalans and in the UK you have the Scots and Welsh. In all these countries they make it work, becasue they have political systems that have evolved to fit their particular socities, and they have the the rule of law. I am a proud Edo Man. My Edo identity predates the existence of Nigeria. I am happy to also be a Nigerian . The two are not mutually exclusive. Nigeria needs to be restructed to better reflect it's composition.

I'm a full blooded yoruba. And i will denounce my Nigerian citizenship if i have the chance.

Anybody who thinks Nigeria is his identity is nothing but a bastard and I'm sure his/her ancestors will be ashames of him.

Nigeria is a White-mans creation. Putting an identity thats is less than a hundred years before the one that has been existing for hundreds if not thousand of years makes you guilty of white supremacy...

NB: i do not hate the Whites. They are a good race of human but like every other race, they're not perfect. It's left for us to correct their mistake(our borders) and move forward or preserve it and... you know.

My brother, you have good intentions but I am sorry to tell you that you are a lone wolf in the wilderness. Your voice won't be heard; even if it is, you would be devoured by your own kind and forgotten about.

I was once like you screaming one Nigeria, but if God could have mercy in you and show you a glimpse of what's in the hearts of Nigerian, you will forget this your mission.

Watch the above video...... The above man is a leader and has followers.... The man is a *CHRISTIAN* and he is not afraid to express his true feelings.

Now, if I may ask you, if such a man could say this in front of camera, do you know what he says when the cameras are off?

On what basis do our politicians campaign? Is it on one Nigeria? On what basis does the average Nigerian vote?

If the elites including professors and industry professionals can be biased along religious and ethnic basis.... You can imagine the average village champions ideology.

Like I said, I admire your courage.... But till the sun looses it's shine, I do not see one Nigeria
