@femmzzy22, if l am the VO, l will grant you the visa, l like the confidence you and your wife exhibited, the sequence of questions from the VO and the way he tried to jolt you, your response to his questions where on point & straightforward, no stories, no fidgeting, and the guy had no choice but to give you the visa cool

Hello good people of NL. I have a little issue with applying for a visa for my wife, I already have a valid visa tho.
My wife and I desire to attend a wedding in the US in June. The guy getting married is a close family friend, and he and his wife -to-be are full american citizens, and the guy has been resident in the USA for about 25 years now, but he is presently in Nigeria for a contract and he will return back to the USA in May to prepare for the wedding. Now that he is still in Nigeria temporarily, is it advisable that we wait till May when he returns back before my wife appears for the interview , or can my wife go for the interview now that the guy is still in Nigeria ? We have 2 kids, ages 3 and 5, but they will not be going with us to the usa for the wedding as they will be staying behind with our grandma. We desire spending just 5 days and return immediately after the wedding. Pls advice us....... Remember I already have a valid visa but my wife don't, and I visited the USA last August, spent just 7 days. I got that visa on the platform of going for a similar wedding last year

Wow,i really have to say this, your interview transcripts really motivates me,after 2 denials at yankee embassy,i have been afraid of rejection, once schooled in cyprus, but i never considered filling that in the form online, both VO's that interviewed me asked what course i did there, could this result to a denial as well?though my monthly income here in nigeria is just a little above 100k and i am single
femmzzy22:
Hello Nairalanders.... This section has been very helpful in preparing me for my interview at the US Embassy which was approved and was so easy to the Glory of God. The only thing i can give back to you guys is to share my experience perhaps it will help someone too.

My wife and I got to the Lagos Embassy at about 6:30am for our 7am appointment and the whole place was filled with people like us so we did all the usual formalities then straight we were inside the embassy which looks like a banking hall to me because i work with a bank and it was my first time at the US Embassy. There was a particular young consular that was doing Visa bonanza even when i can tell that some people he gave the visa's were lying but he was just giving atleast till we were called he had given almost 10visas but we were sent to a young lady's window whom didn't give anyone before us.

Below is exactly what went down:
VO: Good Morning
Me: Good Morning and how are you?
VO: (Not sure she answered) Where are you going to in the United States?
Me: We want to travel to Orlando Florida because my wife wants to visit Walt Disney
VO: OK. What do you?
Me: I work with Bleep Bank as a Commercial Credit Analyst in the Commercial Banking Group
VO: Who is sponsoring the trip?
Me: I am
VO: How much do you earn monthly?
Me: I earn Nxxxx plus some fractions
VO: OK (Turns to my wife) M'am where do you work?
Wifey: I work with xxxxxx as an HR Assistant
VO: How much do you earn monthly?
Wifey: She told her
VO: You have travelled to the UK before to do what?
Wifey: I studied in the UK for my Masters
VO: Where in the UK?
Wifey: University of .......
VO: How long were you in the UK for?
Wifey: 2years
VO: How come you guys have different surnames on your passport (so i cut in)
Me: We just got married in Dec (While i was still saying that "smart wifey" brought out our change of name publication and marriage cert which i assisted her in presenting) and she just renewed her passport before then however we will change that when it expires.
VO: OK. Have you travelled before?
Me: yes i did my masters in Cyprus
VO: (Started looking through my int'l passport pages) For how long?
Me: About 18months
VO: So how come you stayed in Cyprus for 18months when you have a 2months visa
Me: Yes, Cyprus does not have an embassy here in Nigeria so what happens is that they give you 2month visa to travel and they give you the right to stay once you register in the school you got admitted into
VO: Remind me again how long were you in Cyprus for?
Me: About 18months
VO: (Started typing for about 2mins without saying a word to us.....) Was packing our passport together
Me: Was praying in my heart.... (because wifey really wants the vacation) Lolllllll
VO: After about 2mins she looks up and said "I'm sorry"
Me: At that point i was like nooooooo
VO: I'm sorry i am having problems with my network but your Visa has been approved (She hands over to us a white paper) and said you can pick up your visa at the circled address in 3 days.
Me: Thank you and God Bless you

It was indeed a big miracle because the only reason i have never applied in the US before now is the fear of rejection despite the fact that they gave several of my colleagues. We decided to go to the USA for this year vacation because we applied to do our honeymoon in Canada but we were denied last Dec for no just reason.

LEARNING POINT: The USA VO's are the most reasonable just be truthful and sincere. Before our interview i heard some people's interview and i knew they won't get it however there were some people that i kind of think they were not saying the truth but they were consistent with their lies and they got it.
Lets just be as truthful as possible and pray for Gods favor because that's the only constant factor.

As for me i promise to return here and confirm to you all if all they say about Yankee is true when i return from this long awaited holiday....Lollll

God Bless America.......

*the family inviting us are american citizens, but they re currently in Nigeria working temporarily. Its their son who is also an american that is getting married in america. He is marrying a full white american lady. The wedding will hold in america but the parents of the guy that is getting married are the one inviting us, and they are currently in Nigeria for a contract which will last till December. They just came to Nigeria recently for a contract job, they have been resident in america for about 30 years.
Considering the fact that the people inviting us are currently in Nigeria, will it not affect the chances of securing the visa?
You asked this question!

Actually that was why I didn't answer.
IMO, whether the guy de Naija or yankee no matter to the IV letter. Cos if queried, u will give them the explantation that he will be back before you go and na u and POE officer go settle at the point of settlement smiley
The vital issue is to convince them say your heart pure and u go return after ur visit.
Cheers

The visa officers dnt give a fly's wing about ur present concerns. what they wannq knw is that you'd be back after a brief stay in the US. Since u are married and with kids who re not goin, you are eligible as far as 214b of the immigration act is concerned. All u've to be concerned abt now is how to present ur case boldly and fluently. Pls, pls, pls be truthful wen u fill the ds160 form. Any lie told now may haunt u in future. Take note of the following tips

1. Go over the info filled in the ds160 before the interview, as any answer not correlating with wt what filled raises a red flag
2. Be calm but confident and look into the eyes of the officer.
3. Avoid mannerisms.
4. Practice with ur wife (so u guys will nt give differing responses)
5 Dress comfortably
6. Wt ever u do, dnt forget ur wedding rings.
These tips are not exhaustive.

Go get ur visas and come share ur transcript.

Please kindly help me with some reasons why my visa was later denied. Here is my interview experience at US embassy abuja.
My interview is scheduled at 8:00am on Wednesday 11 march, 2015, but i arrived there 30mins before, here goes the interview:

Me: Good Morning Madam
VO: Gud morning
VO: Where are u going?
Me: I replied
V.O: What re u going there to do?
Me: I replied
V.O: Where re u working?
Me: I replied
V.O: What is ur designation? And can u tell me ur role?
Me: I replied
V.O: Have u traveled before?
Me: I replied - Kenya nd Dubai
V.O: K...type something on system, and later gave me "Visa issued collecting paper"
Me: I collected it frm her and said "thank you". And immediately i left.
But on d day i was preparing to go nd collect my issued visa (Friday), i received a call from US embassy that i am invited for an interview either Tuesday or Thursday nxt wk...wen i got there on Tuesday, the V.O greeted me wit smile "Gud Afternoon" and just handed over my intl passport back to me and said she was sorry that there was an information received about me after my interview which proved that i am not qualify as eligible immigrant to issued a US visit visa....dat i should reapply in future.

eewww this one na village forces! Chai, they escorted the woman to the visa hall shocked embarassed
Sincerely, I think a way or the other she has probably lied in her application or applied in the past with different credentials, or they did actually receive information or the v.o that gave her the visa changed his mind after she left the visa hall probably due to a rethink on the part of the v.o
Nobody can say anything for sure, we all can only assume the situation.

That might be the koko in the matter, it does happen if they discover additional info, they revoke the visa or place the guy on administrative hearing to unmask all the hidden infos...... sad

Well i wouldnt know how true but someone told me the US embassy usually does background checks on every successful applicant before the visa is finally affixed the passport
Re: Usa Visit Visa by tee12345(m): 5:06pm On Mar 21, 2015
You are right. The applicant must have misrepresented in the past. What many people don't know is irrespective of outcome of visa interview, you are not sure until the stamp is in the passport.

the 3 days used to process the stamp into the passport is used to check for admissibility, misrepresentation, criminality status e.t.c Only after a name clears against many database checks will the stamp be affixed in the passport.

" i am not qualify as eligible immigrant to issued a US visit visa....dat i

Above is an extract form ur statement. Were those the exact words of the officer??
If I omit the error in grammar, I think this pretty much means the applicant has filed an immigration suit, and as such,is not eligible for a tourist visa.
