As an info/entreprenuer and digital content creator, i have being thinking how local businesses(micro, small, and medium businesses ...) are suffering with the emergence of COVID-19 especially those that are not digitally inclined.

Across the full sample, 43% of businesses had temporarily closed, and nearly all of these closures were due to COVID-19. Respondents that had temporarily closed largely pointed to reductions in demand and employee health concerns as the reasons for closure, with disruptions in the supply chain being less of a factor and based on my survey, majority of them are looking for digital personnel to hire to help them fix their problems. This made me believe that this is the time to go out there and make some money for ourselves as a digital expert.
What is your area of expertise? Is it content-creation/copywrititng, website creation and development, ecommerce site, data management, mobile application to mentions but few. You can make more money for yourself by rendering your skills and services for these businesses in your immediate environment, it might be on part-time basis or full time, i will advise you go for the formal option.

This pandemic provides a good opportunity for businesses to do some re-evaluation; ask questions about how to improve efficiency after this blows away.
Advise them on these few point.....
1. SOCIAL PRESENCE: They should introduce digital tools into their business by building social presence on social media platforms, and i know majority of them don't know how to go about it. In return they will hire to set it up for them. The use of digital platforms have been on the increase during this period and very rightly. Businesses are trying to gain market share and are competing for audience attention. Beyond ensuring that you have an active online presence, what is key is focusing on the platform that targets your audience.

As a small business, you cannot be everywhere because you most likely do not have the resources (finance and manpower), so what is advisable is to “go deep and go wide.” Find out what platform(s) your audience congregate and create high engaging content and begin to build human interaction. The trends of events have shown that there is so much to be gained from active participation on these platforms. Platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, Whatsapp for Business, Twitter, Medium, LinkedIn, to mention a few should be taken very seriously because of the large number of users.

2. BUSINESS RE-BRANDING: The Brand awareness of any business tells the story of such business. Beyond the promise and messaging, other elements that make up a brand including their brand materials. While speaking with some businesses, there were conversations about wanting to update some branding elements but due to busy schedules, these could not happen. Fortunately, or unfortunately, businesses now have some time to work on this so that it reflects the image you want the brand to have.

These materials include brand logo, message fonts, colors, design layouts, tagline, color palette, and all the marketing and promotional materials, letterheads, signage, etc. These, as we know amongst other things, will aid in giving your company an appeal in a very attractive way. With adequate feedback through communication with customers and your team, you can birth something that will keep your target audience glued to your brand. From this point of view too, you come in for them and be their brand manger, you don't necessarily need to be a branding techy person, you suppose to know how to play your game.
