Governor Willie Obiano and the members of the Executive Council have approved the gradual resumption of schools in the state, IgbereTV reports.

After the approval, the Ministry of Basic Education has released the approved timetable for the completion of 2019/2020 Academic session as well as the schedule for the state examinations. A release signed by the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Basic Education, Mr. Nwabueze Nwankwor, said Junior Secondary Schools will resume on Monday, seventh September, 2020, while boarders are to return the weekend before the date.

The third term 2019/2020 Academic session for both primary and secondary schools will begin on Monday, fourteenth September 2020 to end on twenty-third October, 2020 while boarders are expected to return the weekend before the date. The release noted that the third term is quite short and schools are expected to make maximum use of time since it had continued to teach students at home through various e-platforms including the Anambra State Teaching on Air, which it says, will continue as it kicks off a phased reopening of schools and watch the health implication. It also directs parents to provide hand sanitizers and face masks for children.

Some reasonable states that know the important and value of education have started reopening their schools due to the cordial relationship its has with development. The unscientific ones wouldn't open despite their obvious backwardness in education.

Are they opening because they know the value of education and have the public interest at heart or are they opening in order to increase the revenue derivation?
I pray God to give Nigeria leaders that will put national interest ahead of personal interest.

I guess buhari and his cabinet will be shocked by this news and Adamu will still declare school open nationwide when the whole Southern States are done with an academic term/semester

FG will soon warn them like others.

All these are delay tactics. Just to keep media busy and students commenting until next year.
