BREAKING: Kano Musician Sentenced To Death For Blasphemy Appeals Judgment

Yahaya Sharif-Aminu, a musician sentenced to death for blasphemy against Prophet Muhammad by a Kano Shari’a Court, has appealed the judgment.

Sharif-Aminu was sentenced to death on August 10, 2020, and was given 30 days by the court to appeal the judgment, meaning that the time would lapse on Wednesday, September 9.

In a suit filed on Thursday at the Kano State High Court by his lawyer, Kola Alanipini, Sharif-Aminu said he is dissatisfied with the judgment of the Shari’a Court.

He described the Kano State Penal Law 2000 as unconstitutional, null and void, having grossly violated and conflicted with the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria (1999) as amended and having violated the Human Rights and the Universal Declaration of Human Rights respectively.

This isn’t about this current government.

Sharia Law was introduced into these states during Obasanjo’s tenure. And it has been operational since then.

Why not denounce Islam totally and have his freedom and peace of mind? This is 2020 for God's sake, peeps should stop allowing themselves to be emotionally blackmailed by some 12th century backward religion.
If that their Prophet was alive today , he still would have been a racist against Nigerians.. And here some are prepared to kill for his sake.

that's the most sensible thing to do. Tell them you no longer subscribe to the faith a and therefore you are not bound by sharia court.

When I saw this news, the first thing I was interested in looking for is the advocate for the man and where he is from.

The problem with sharia law when it comes to the issue of blasphemy is that, there is no way you can have an advocate, cos the fate is already sealed and the consequence is death. No lawyer will even come up to stand for the accused cos the Muslims in the north are so fanatical and will even kill the lawyer before leaving the court premise.
So the northern lawyers aren’t always interested in taking up cases on blasphemy cos they know that they aren’t safe with the job

Now that the lawyer to the accused is a Yoruba (south west or north central), there is a light at the end of the tunnel for him.

The case is still in Kano high court, he might not be discharged and acquitted of the case cos it is still within Kano state. No judge wanna die.

The surest thing that will guarantee this man’s freedom is when the case is taken beyond Kano State, perhaps Supreme Court in Abuja

Let's see what comes out of the appeal till it finally gets to Tanko supreme court so that he can finally Tanko the case.
