Did you know that Benue State is one of the most under-documented states in Nigeria? By the way, the fable about the Tivs giving their wives to visitors for entertainment is FALSE!!! shocked shocked grin

Here are some facts.

Benue State is blessed with very fertile land for agriculture as well as rivers for fishery hence the nickname "the food basket of the nation". Sure you have heard of River Benue which is one of the major rivers in Africa. The State also has a lot of mineral resources and very hospitable people which can foster a tourism drive.

The investment opportunities in the state are numerous and includes tourism, agriculture, mining and so on. It houses several educational institutions like Benue State University. There are 23 local government areas in Benue State and the major tribes in the Benue state are the Tiv, Idoma and Igede. Life in Benue is interesting because of the hospitality of the people. Benue State also account for about 60% of food production in Nigeria. And it is the home to the largest yam market in Nigeria and in West Africa called "The Zaki Biam Yam Market."
