Yes you can be self employed anywhere you are in the country transcribing for a living. This thread will teach you everything you need to know to start up and the tools needed to deliver the goods. You would need 1. A PC or Laptop 2. Affordable internet connection 3. Good head phones 4 Good command of English Everything else can be learned on this thread. For those of us who have already started transcribing, we're welcome to share our ideas here so that this can be our online community. To avoid this thread being banned, kindly let us adhere to all the rules of Nairaland. Should we want to share screenshots, kindly let's block the company and important call info. Also all forms of advertising is prohibited and will be reported. Edited 9/7/2019 posted by samsard for newbies. Once you master these, the rest go easy E.g Rep: I was gonna, uhmmm, I was gonna tell ya about, about the new product we launched. What they need: I was going to tell you about the new product we launched. Punctuation: Hello, Philip. It's Emily calling from CLH Group. How're you doing today? Cust: I'm fine, thank you. And how are you? Longer calls will be more complex in terms of punctuation but for a start A comma before and after a name in mid sentence. A comma before or after a name in salutation. You're also allowed MINOR corrections for making clear transcripts. Anyway, read through the FAQ and regularly Consult it while working at least till you acquaint yourself with it's detail All full company names, PayPal email addresses and screenshots that include confidential company information must not be shared on this thread and will be reported 5 Likes |

Slack is the work place community where you can get to connect with other transcribers and moderators who can help you resolve any issues or questions. Just sign-up and the bot will put you through. For the PayPal, you can ask for the link to learn how to do that. After opening the PayPal account, go to your nearest UBA branch and tell them you want the international Africard. That's the card you'll use to get your funds directly from PayPal. Please note that you must always log into the Lesotho PayPal using the link provided in the document. Take some time to read the FAQ and help before you start your first job. It is extremely important 3 Likes |

nwafresh: You've been doing a good job on this, especially from the last thread that was recently closed. I think the thread title should be different from the previous name. Just an observation. Can I chat you up on WhatsApp? We used to be on the Humanatic platform two weeks ago. Your mentorship is needed. |

nwafreshIt is also advisable to remove the Paypal link too, let it be a private info that will be revealed to those that need it. Good to start afresh again and hopefully we get it right this time and pray that things go smoothly. Is the slack channel already created? I will like to check it out. Long live QA. A toast to a new beginning. 1 Like |

Good job. Let's try to keep decorum on this new thread as much as possible. I advise we cut ties completely with the old thread to avoid transferring issues over here. Remember things has changed. |

berbs:you say "whoever is the culprit" like we were not all wrong by breaking the rules of QA World in the first place. I've been on this thread for over 9 months and I know the older guys (samsard, nwafresh) and a few others I can't remember reading tried to make sure we didn't break the rules, they even used pseudo names to mask the names of companies. But somehow, the rest of us started calling the company names in full, even started teaching people how to download QA audio from their browsers. I think we should blame ourselves first for not keeping to the rules and giving QA World more reasons to not trust people from our region. 3 Likes |

Jdhdgejio: Well, the deed has been done. Let's maintain the privacy of QAW and hopefully when the slack channel is created, we'll all move over there while this thread will remain and guild our country people to know that there's actually a place to earn as a transcriber. |

I really hope she sees this. No way she would have known about the old thread if someone didn't snitch. She didn't see it years ago and so someone must have brought it to her attention. It's not our fault our country's PayPal cannot recieve funds plus not her concern how we choose to maneuver that hurdle, her concern is that we work and we work well. The threats are very petty and uncalled for. One door closes and another opens. No, we don't want your leash (slack for Nigerians) thank you. I'm super sure this show of superiority she put on will be all over slack and they will laugh and mock and call us names. I'm not gonna be a part of that, dehumanization just to make extra cash. We are humans and we make mistakes, just like you. QA is a transcribing platform, not the Illuminati. Like I said, I really hope u see this. Nigerians una better wake up, I don dump QA since when, now on another platform. QA is not worth it really, u don't just lose money on the poor rate, u lose ur self worth and ur confidence. If she closes QA to Nigerians they will lose over 30-40% of thier workforce. This just ruined my mood this morning, I hate people who beat u down just to get u in line. We are workers, not beggers. We bring in money for u, how we do that should not concern u. By the way my username on QA is pattymike, u can take it down if u like . 27 Likes 2 Shares |

Agreed. We broke rules, no doubt. But then PayPal no concern u (Nigerian PayPal cannot recieve funds) u wan show muscle. That woman till get audacity abuse the whole country, "I know u have problems with electricity in ur country which is why u use phone, but if it works for u zip it (shut up). Two grown ass industrious men being told to Zip it, (shut the hell up). I know say one day all this one go turn story, e go turn "U remember when". For others, the sooner u free yourself of QA the sooner u will find bigger opportunities to make money. QA will take ALL ur time, u can never move forward. U will transcribe from January to December, morning till night, earn the same range of income (now it's even half than what u were making). Before u know it, year don end, u pay bills, pay rent, eat and that's it. You repeat the same circle all over and over again. It's good for surviving, but for how long will u keep surviving, when will u finally LIVE? Like it or not, I am speaking the truth. Transcribing can become a career but just not at QA, it's designed to make u remain a bottom feeder for as long as possible. Somebody said even the SCC are transcribers. U can NEVER grow on QA, switch up and grow, make more money and have that extra time for yourself. I swear if I didn't cut back on QA, I would never have seen new opportunities. No, no, no. This is the last straw, I will never ever give up my self worth and belief just for money. I know say I no go starve laye, God dey always take care of him own. 23 Likes 2 Shares |

Pattymike.. All this ain't necessary.. If you've gotten another gig that's giving you money, just help by telling the family. No matter what, we broke rules and we need to be greatful for what we have... We were happy when everything was going smoothly before Covid... If you have a better platform, those who will switch will do so while others will stay if they wish to. Don't make things difficult for us all and at the end of the day, you won't share the new website. 1 Like |
