And here is Ebaino supermarkets, but Nigerians don't patronize them.Nigerian customers are so scanty in this supermarket but if you go to spar and ShopRite supermarkets Nigerians will be struggling for car space to park and shop. Our demand to patronize foreign stores is too high.
Quality and cheap prices attracts them

It baffles me how people see shoprite as a tourist center. Is it that nigerians are too local or bush. Tourist center to nigerians.. eateries, super markets, hotel bar, local bar, malls. Its always in every nigerians phone gallery. Zoo would be empty when the animals are too damn lazy, spoon fed and bored.
Stop spreading false information. Not all Nigerians visit that overhyped shopping mall

When you start a business, the first 1-2years should be for experimentation, under normal condition.

When you take stock at the end of the business year and the figures are not looking good as you keep recording losses, identify the problems and if realistically insurmountable due to factors you cannot control. Pack up and leave.

Sometimes location is everything.

Layman. That simple until you implement it.

The analysis that went into the decision was beyond this. Businesses miss forecast return all over the world. No big deal.

Local markets? The ones with big flies swarming around you as you shop ? Where marketers curse and shoo you away because you bargained cheaply grin ?
So you would prefer that to an AC shopping center where you shop and pay with no hurdle?

As long as we still have our local markets, no problem grin. We were already using our local markets for shopping before their coming tongue

I thought some people were blasting our government and leaders for creating bad economic policies and business environment when the news came up that Shoprite was leaving Nigeria.
I hope such people will begin to blast the Kenyan government for creating bad economic policies that prevented Shoprite from blossoming in their country. What does Shoprite sell that our locally owned stores cannot sell?
The only way to economic development is for us to grow our own brands whilst accommodating foreign brands. In addition, our local brands must be given a level playing field with the foreign brands.

If you have lived outside Nigeria for even a day, you would have known that shopping mall is the biggest tourist attraction to rich and poor people. It's free entry, cheap to access, shopping for essential commodities, social centre for new meet ups and dating centre etc.

Heck, people travel from USA and Europe just to tour Dubai shopping malls. Are they also local and bush?

Yes, Nigerians should do more tours to zoos, safaris and waterparks, but these places can strain your time and resources. But in shopping malls, you can hold small business meetings, buy all your groceries and essentials items, meet up people and in a short while, go back to your endeavors. All these at a very little cost and time.

Boring? A little. But what's actually local about that?
