The United Bank for Africa (UBA) Group hereby invites qualified secondary school students to apply for the ongoing National essay competition. This competition is opened to all qualified and interested students of various secondary schools who see this as an opportunity to showcase their talents to the world.
Education is the key to human development and without adequate investment into the education system of a country, all hope stands to be lost. As such, UBA Group has not relented in providing support and partnership in driving the education system and standard of Nigeria. Below are more details of the National essay competition

TOPIC
“Do you think that the lock down during the Covid-19 pandemic was an essential measure in spite of the hardship it brought economically? What would you have done differently and why?”

REQUIREMENT
Must be a secondary school student
Must submit a handwritten essay of a maximum of 750 words
Must submit a passport photograph
Must submit a copy of a birth certificate, National ID or passport

APPLICATION DEADLINE
The National essay competition for secondary school are opened for interested candidates to apply. Applications are opened till 2nd of October, 2020

AWARDS
Education grants of various prizes are available for the first three winners of the National Essay Competition
First Position: ₦2.5 million
Second Position: ₦2 million
Third Position: ₦1.5 million

SELECTION PROCESS
Entries received for the competition will be reviewed by a distinguished panel of judges made up of professors from reputable Nigerian Universities, who will then shortlist 12 essays for further assessement.
Following this, a second round of competition will involve the 12 finalists who will write a second supervised essay from which three best essays will be selected as the overall winners from the 12 finalists emerged from the first round of the competition

HOW TO APPLY
There are basically two modes of application which are the online application and the offline application
To apply on line, Applicant must submit their completed contact information (Name, Age, School, Address of school, Telephone Number, Residential Address and Email Address).
Applicants must attach photocopies of their original birth certificates or international passport data page.
