This is a period you all need to take extra care because,

1. No doctors to attend to you in government hospitals because of strike.

2. No money to give you adequate treatment and care in public hospitals.

3. Traditional medicine this days is not like before, the only thing they prepare effectively now is drink for erectile dysfunction grin
Funny but tru those ppl na sex related nai sure pass for them.

johesu strike lasted for 6 weeks. doctors would not strike for that long. Government can invoke no work no pay. And in health bill 2014, fg can take drastic step to ensure health services during strike. Fashola invoked no work no for doctors. doctors were not paid till today.
Nonsense! Let them keep on with the selective invocation of 'no work, no pay" instead of addressing the demands of the health workers. Let's see where it'll lead our health sector to.

All the time, the government keeps showing that they're biased in favour of the medical doctors. That is why they hurriedly meet their demands whenever they go on strike but invoke their useless 'no work no pay' when other health workers go on strikes.

And for your information, deductions can be made for the number of days of strike if the government really wants to show they are not biased with the 'no work, no pay' policy.

I just wish that the leadership of JOHESU will not get compromised but sustain the strike until all their demands are met. At least let's see how our health sector would fair with only the medical doctors doing all the jobs.

govt can tolerate one or two weeks strike. if strike of any union is getting to a month, no work no pay policy will be invoked. senior and professional health workers can ensure it but what about other junior staff who are being paid peanuts?
no last in health sector should last for more than 2 weeks. if more than 2weeks, government should invoke no work no pay. only excuse for strike if workers are being owed legitimate salaries which are stated in their employment letters. you cannot accept job offer and start making frivolous demands from your employers. can u try that in private establishments?

I wrote regulate medical practice.

most of their demands are about pay parity with doctors.
I would not blame johesu but failure of mdcn to regulate medical practice properly. in few years there will more confusion in hospital about roles of medical doctors. there will be all sorts of doctors.'
Why isn't there confusion in UK, USA etc? Is it inferiority ir superiority complex worrying you Nigerians. And many of you Nigerians doctors end up not practicing in abroad, you switch ober to Physician Assistant or Nursing due to how difficult it is to break into the practice. Thank God for UK that made it easy for you guys. But imagine if those abroad countries treated other health workers badly, and made it unattractive, would you people be proud to switch when licensing as a doctor becomes difficult?
Pride and superiority complex is you guys problem. In USA, most of what you guys do in Nigeria is what others health care do. Med Doctors take on advanced roles unlike there in Nigeria. So I understand why you people try to hijack procedures. What's the business of an American doctor with IV line setting when there are numerous roles to occupy? What's the business of a doctor in taking delivery when there are other advanced obstetrical procedures to do? What's the business of a doctor with performing lab tests when there are advanced pathological lab procedures to do? But there, you people fight midwives, fight lab Sciences etc.

They are owed April and may 2018 salaries. Also the covid hazard allowances agreed upon was decisive in its application.

These people again, doing the same everytime and expecting different result.yes they deserve their pay,but can they just agree on something.Today they're on strike, tomorrow they're calling off the strike. Doctors agree on something for once.

you get it. FG is not ready to listen again . NARD was threatened with no work no pay and strike was called off.
Johesu should expect nothing from this strike. only mou is sure.

FG may give them a listening ear, remember NARD is just a branch of NMA while JOHESU encompasses all paramedics. Sometimes I wonder the basis for their allowance, whether is based on yr of study or risks involved in the profession. It has lingered for long and I don't see an end to it. They should stop meeting with FG rather they should meet themselves and define their roles and all this supremacy battle

I think you get the point now. if mdcn regulates medicine and surgery properly we would not be at this level. we would be talking about advanced medical practice so that doctors can leave simple tasks for other health workers. when quacks take over medical practice, doctors will not allow other workers to take over their primary roles.in developed nations, system is tightly regulated unlike here. You cannot buy pom drugs from pharmacies without medical prescription. In US and UK, pathologists are leaders in medical laboratories, doctors are specialists in physical and rehabilitative medicine.
Again, I blame mdcn for problems in health sector.

foreign exams are very expensive. to complete uslme, be ready to spend almost 3 to 5million , plab 2 to 3 millions etc. most doctors result to menial tasks to raise funds for those exams especially if they are from financially disadvantaged families

I'm speaking on behalf on Nigerians. My case has been taken care of by God himself.
You will soon give a Bleep.. strike by Johesu tends to shut down federal hospitals, cos Doctors cannot treat without diagnosis (Med Lab Scientists and Radiographers) nor can they work without patient care (Nurses and Physiotherapists). Who will dispense drugs (Pharmacists) to patients? My dear, if the strike lingers for long, you will soon care.

Many of the comments above are just childish. I'm not part of Johesu but they have a just demand and not actually fighting with NARD. I don't know Why you guys find it hard to read. The only problem we have in Nigeria is a poorly responsive government but you guys apply prejudice in every matter even before you read, if at all you read. We can't move forward in this country with such attitude from its citizens

reasonable demands have been met. other demands are about being at the same level with doctors in term of position, authority and pay. FG is not likely to yield to any demand. I am expecting another no work no pay policy to be implemented.
which reasonable demands are met?
have u forgotten that the last time they went on strike, two months of their salaries were seized.
Are u aware that doctors, ASUU and other union have went on strike differently and nothing happened to their salaries. u are a wicked fellow for u to suggest that another salaries ought to be seized.
Are u aware that the last strike was directed to ADR for resolution? do u know that none of the things done by ADR were implemented for Johesu?
Are u aware that members of this union went to court on some salients agitations which went in their favour and uptil now the FG is foot dragging to implement those judgement.
Myopic people like u always sees agitations from Johesu as being at equal pal with doctors forgetting that these people are also professionals in there fields like the doctors.
of recent, resident doctor went on strike, their salaries were not withheld by the FG.

ASUU members are not essential workers. Nma/nard strike never lasted more than 2 weeks. I repeat any essential workers who their strike lasted for 2 weeks should be even be sacked unless strike is due to non-payment of legitimate salaries as stated in their employment letters.
most nicn judgments have been appealed.
some issues cannot be solved by ADR.
government is trying to avoid escalation in other sector. government says adr is not acceptable. johesu was even asked to withdraw cases from court if they want negotiations from government.
government plan is to harmonise salary based on professional cadre not necessarily based on MDAs and it will affect all government workers.. are u expecting non-health professionals working in health sector to be paid more than their counterparts in other sectors ?

johesu is dangerous to health sector. each union should should fight their battle independently. fg knows johesu is formed to fight doctors. do u think policy makers are stupid ?

list other professionals in health sector that can use ward coat and stethoscope. there are five main professions in health sector- medicine, dentistry, pharmacy, nursing and allied health professionals. other professionals are either allied to medicine, dentistry, pharmacy or nursing.

Two weeks strike strike money should be calculated and deducted from resident doctor salaries. Invariably, each will be paid half of their salaries.
Who refer the dispute to ADR? perhaps u don't know it was government them.
Johesu is a formidable union back by law, ordinary association like NMA went on strike without raising dust.
The agitations of Johesu members are just example is adjustment of their conhess as done for doctors since 2014.
These people must progress in their chosen careers.
Johesu are easy people else since their last strike in 2018, they ought to have call for another strike to implement the ADR resolutions.
