This is pure scam. PHED have not reversed to the previous billing ever since labour suspended the strike. I get 90 units for 5000 as against 157 units charged previously. Who's fooling who?

I don't know where u live but they 've reverted back at gowon estate where I stay. Previously I bought 94 units for 5k after generating a code to migrate to their new tariff but after Labour issues with them , I bought 213numits for 5k after using another code to migrate back to old tariff. Confirm from your nepa office

u dey talk like say no be naija both of us dey. i live in ikoyi, we have not switched on gen for close to 3 years now. light is constant for almost 23hours without a blink, but the bill is like person wey dey live abroad. now tell me, all of u with estimated meter screaming for stead light, will u be able to pay close to 40k per month per house? if they give u light steady? i have my cousin that stay in ikeja. he used prepaid meter, when bill come na complain he dey complain. because of that he moved to where he will use estimated and the light there was not constant. bottomline of this is, if nigerians want 24 hour power supply, we should be ready to pay like europe and from my analysis, naija is not ready for that yet. how much is minimum wage? how much does the average nigerian earn monthly? there are somethings that we should just take without complaining. naija is not ripe for steady light. the citizens cant afford it
What Prepaid Meter does is to make people take responsibility for how they consume electricity. Even if the Discos charge N80 for a kwh, the consumer can decide that all he wants to spend on electricity every month is N6,000 or less.
This can be achieved by using electricity wisely and prudently. That means using Air Conditioning only when necessary and switching off lights when and where not needed.
It is better than Estimated billing where a consumer that has traveled for 3 months comes back home to meet huge Electricity bill waiting for him.
I think the emphasis of this Labour and Federal Government discussions should be more on the provision of Prepaid Meters for Electricity Consumers!

Na 200 million house dey Nigeria?
Average household has about 6-individuals. However, given the prevalence of small businesses, people need multiple meters, at home and for their business. The metering gap is already wide anyway. 6 million meters (which will never materialise anyway) will not bridge that gap.
Remember, those on postpaid will most likely want to be on prepaid too

Imagine that part that Says Distribution of 6 Million Meters to 200 Million Nigerians, Can Someone help me quantify this please, i can't still wrap my head around it

Even though I agree the govt is the most useless govt I have seen you got your analysis wrong.

They are not distributing the 6m meters to individuals but to households and not everyone would get, but we also know some houses have already gotten.

Its just adding to those households who don't have thereby increasing the number that will have.

Looks like your is estimated billing...
Seeing the LAR and PAR are blank. Last and Present Actual Reading
Looks like that is the range of price that are dishing out to everyone...
Prepaid meter is better, and if money dey now is time to go solar for homeowners tho...

Imagine is solar TCO is 1.5Million to install that will last for 6 years, and in a year NEPA is taking over 600k.
That is 1.5Million for solar and 3.6Million.

Which way Nigeria?
