The IG can do better with such arrangements as: Anti-Robbery Special Forces, ARSF. Or,for ease of memory- Crime-Busting Forces etc, but not SWAT for goodness sake.

First of all I don't live in Nigeria. Secondly, I clearly stated that they should be prosecuted. Doing things the proper way will mean worse consequences for the fraudsters because they won't be able to just bribe their way out when there is abundance of evidence against them. How many fraudsters has SARS successfully brought a case against up to a court judgement?

Of course I don't expect someone that thinks with their teeth to understand that harassing people at police checkpoint will never be the way to fight crime.

That is how the military went about naming battalions ‘special forces’ after watching American movies. I knew nothing distinguishing will be observed with normal troops. Serious nations create unique identities with the naming of spec ops. For example, US Navy SEALs, Delta Force,, Green Beret. Israel has Sayeret Matkal, Russia Spetsnaz etc. Even other African nations have unique spec ops identities. We just copy ‘special forces‘ as names after watching American movies. Lazy, so annoying. Names are easy to conjure. Special Tactical and Amoury (STM), Special Tactical Unit (STU), Tactical Intervention Unit (TIU)... I just made all that up now... easily

They just created a needless controversy with the choice of SWAT. The easiest task in the entire journey. Disappointing!

The major problem is not only end SARS but Reformation of our law that bind the police force. Police will still continue to harass people and as well fill the gap of the Sars to threaten yahoo guys. Yahoo guys in film making, music and various sectors hide under the disguise of people who had genuine reasons for END SARS.
