End SARS protesters are now at the entrance of the National Assembly in Abuja.

Hundreds of them moved in a long convoy of vehicles, including some damaged at Berger.

One of them Adebayo Raphael gave an update on Twitter.

“SP U. A. Sambo just asked us to wait for him to check if there are any legislators in either of the two chambers.

“The National Assembly must commit to fix our damaged cars, otherwise we sleep here and continue our #EndPoliceBrutality protests”, he tweeted.

Peaceful demonstrators were earlier today attacked by some boys with sticks.

In a coordinated movement, they stormed the rally ground and pounced on cars and individuals demanding an end to Police excesses in Nigeria.

That's better.
2020, I have repeatedly said it is not a normal year.
If you are in government and you are reading this, share the message to your people - #EndSARS is only the beginning.

The people made a demand, our lawmakers who should be our mouthpiece kept quiet all these while.

If they don't accept to slash their salaries, they should be recalled.

Finally we are at the gates. Ladies and gentlemen time for #OccupyNASS.

Let them not just fix the cars but start with cutting cost of running the NASS and other exorbitant frivolities in the budget.

Modified
Growing up we loved seeing gallant police officers combating crimes and bringing criminal elements to justice. We watched in excitement how they confess to their crimes and rid the streets of their reign of terror.
The gallant and fearless ones in the NPF that year were in SURVEILLANCE/ANTI CRIME PATROL. The good old days of Operation Mkpochapu, Sting and lots of others. Later they metamorphosed into SARS. Their powers and prowess were unrivaled and sanity got restored. Later the mass raids began and the *oga I no follow* slogan came into play.
In later years, gory tales replaced the glory tales. The necessary evil became an evil of its own. Remember the saying; not to become that which you hate. Most operators have stared so long at the devils in others that they now became that which they detest and started eating the eggs kept in their care to protect. The result; ENDSARS!
I will not want to bore my esteemed audience with an argument for or against the campaign. Rather a more thought provoking campaign is what I will point out; the National Assembly!
A well paid officer will not indulge in extortion. Not just in the police but other forces charged with protection of our borders and security of citizens. No matter how good an economy is, there will always be criminals so I got nothing to defend about societal vices.
98% of ministries and agencies in Nigeria are underfunded except the National Assembly who even make provision for HARDSHIP ALLOWANCE in their budget. You begin to wonder if riding in the latest Prado SUV and Mercedes Benz S class is hardship abeg take me along to that hardship biko.
The old ones keep doing age declaration and working as contractors sharing fat envelopes to members of the NASS. The country literally stopped manufacturing because we unconsciously signed a trade agreement that flooded the country with substandard goods and services. Our increasing population demands new infrastructures but guess what the NASS will rather budget for renovation of their solid complex and request for more cars than see you with good electricity or hospital. After all, they can fly to Europe or America for such services and come back to a cheering crowd of these poor masses!
They have at least two hilux full of SARS operators whenever they want to visit their constituents and you wouldn't dare come closer. Should you question why he is supporting an anti people bill, what you'll get is a weekend in one of the SARS detention facilities. The young graduates are jobless and turn to cyber crime. The civil servants are underpaid because of budget cuts to their ministry and thus will not take your document processing serious. When it's time for juicy recruitment, members of the NASS shares all the job slot and leave you and your fellow poor masses to stampede yourselves to death.
Need I remind you that most of them are products of public school system? Now where are their kids; in Europe while you can't afford to go to school a full year here without one strike or the other.
SARS is just one of the monsters created by a failed country same as all graduates into cyber crime, girls in prostitution and folks who falsify age just to remain in active service. How can you retire when your child is jobless and got no means of taking care of you.

Some salient questions;
What happened to the Nigeria where companies flood the school gate on graduation day?
Why continually import things that can be developed domestically with appropriate budget?
What happened to the Nigeria where the PWD fixed and built the roads? Why give out contract to a privilege few who make millions that is supposed to be paid as wages to a teeming unemployed masses?
If we as a nation can no longer manage our resources how come we got Nigeria working in private refineries and other manufacturing plants in the country?
Why take loans that end up in the pocket of a few without timely delivery of projects and in most cases use manpower and raw materials from within the country to deliver at later dates?
What are they in the NASS thinking by pegging minimum wage at 30k? While they are the highest paid worldwide?
I hate the atrocities committed by some SARS operators no doubt but they are the monsters made by the NASS.
So if we want to get it right, let's start from the top

It is the obligation of every person who claims to oppose oppression to resist the oppressor by every means at his or her disposal. Not to engage in physical resistance, armed resistance to oppression, is to serve the interests of the oppressor; no more, no less. There are no exceptions to the rule, no easy out.

National Assembly of Nigeria is the most lopsided National Assembly in the world.

One side of the country is over-represented while the other sides are underrepresented.

Three regions - north, southwest and southeast formed Nigeria independence in 1960.

But northern military dictators proliferated 19 states and Abuja in the northern region. They created only 17 states in the two southern regions. There should have been equal number of states for the three regions.

It’s fraud to use land mass or population as criterion to create new political units in a country formed by diverse regions. Balance of power between the founding regions was thrown away after the states were created.

It’s most annoying when people of intelligent by half refer the shortchanged southern groups to take their political problems to the National Assembly.

Can't tell why Nigerians never took advantage of this crusade to address salient issues playing the nation. We tackling the symptoms instead of treating. Call these guys out to restructure the damn nation, call them out to reduced the cost of running government, it's damn too high, call them out of constitutional reforms.

Dem don end SARZ, move to other fundamental issues.
