work particularly laying of asphalt during this raining season will be good for a durable road construction of a soil layer of such.

The group have also extolled the Secretart to the government of the Federation (SGF),Barr Boss Mustapha to be in a closer watch of the ongoing work.

The APC media group consider the position of the Federation government is the best for the generality of the people, but however said they are sheathing their sword until Federal Government goes contrary to their stand.

The statement which read in parts said:

"We may all recall that the Gombe - Yola road has remained a death trap for over the years and has witnessed neglect by the Federal Ministry of Works and Housing. This has caused hardship and inflicted pains to both States, most especially our state, the Adamawa State which the versed abandoned road portion is from; and majority of the populace uses the road to connect the state with the outside world.

"Remember, road transport is mostly utilized by masses and common Nigerians. This deplorable state of the road, has caused many lives death, perishable items worth billions rotten and destroyed, and other goods and services affected.

"This situation, for some weeks ago has made the Northern Region APC Media support the agitation and the campaign for #FIX GOMBE - YOLA road with many press releases in that regard by this organization.

"Consequently, it has also come to the notice of this organization the Press Statement made on the 8th of October, 2020 by Mr. Boade Akinola, the director Press and Public Relations of the Federal Ministry of Works and Housing.

"This Organization has articulated the following resolutions/rejoinder as our position relates to the agitations for the FIX-Gombe-Yola-Road.

"In our efforts to ascertain the true picture and reality of the abandoned Gombe - Yola road, the Northern Region APC media technical team where on site yesterday the 13th of October 2020 to access and to observe a feasibility study of the state of the abandoned road which covers the entire Savannah Sugar, Guyuk, Lamurde and part of Numan area as full of black soil. No construction work particularly laying of asphalt during this raining season will be good for a durable of road construction of a soil layer of such.

"Our site advisers explained to us that civil works during raining season is suitable only for drainage channel constructions only. The axial load on that road is high which is why the FG is going to make the road a stone based before placing the Asphalt. Our visit to the site has convinced us that black soil are difficult soils. Hence, most be scraped and replaced with concrete for a durable time lasting road construction for many generations to benefit.

"In such vein, we also want to consider and accept the Federal Government submissions as a reason to why the construction work most wait until after rainy season which we are optimistic that rain will stop by next month, November, and we hope to see the resumption to the site by the contractors and their construction machines.

"This organization is keeping fingers crossed with the hope that the APC led federal government will not disappoint its citizens to meeting up to their stand as stated in their 8th October, press release on the Gombe – Yola abandoned road.

"Also, we want to appreciate the quick response of the Federal Ministry of Works and Housing to our agitations by addressing the citizens on the situation at hand and to also commend the timely provision of palliatives to temporarily cushion the pains of the road on its users.

"We want to appreciate our Adamawa State leaders on this agitation most especially the Secretary to the Government of the Federation for his concerted effort to solving this problem. Also, our appreciation goes to our elected federal legislators for their commitment to lasting solution of this problem, and other well-meaning Nigerians including our members of the APC Northern Region Media Group across the state.

"In conclusion, we have therefore, sheath our sword until Federal Government goes contrary to their stand."
