It's a carnal sin to compare S vs E class..... Why not settle for an S350............

M-Class will be a better option.
If it has to be either of both, S500, is a better deal at that price but when things go wrong, pray.

They are both very good choices but Look your pocket well and consider lots of things.

First, the S550 is a luxury sedan so it's bound to have more features, speed and all the good stuff. On the other hand, being a premium sedan, it's parts would be more expensive during maintenance and less tolerant to manhandling. Fuel economy should not be a phrase in your lips as that would be a taboo Those car engines begin at V8 or V10s so should expectedly be thirsty.

Another factor to consider in getting a good S550 at 7.5M, it may be that it's a much older model and probably Nigerian used and you don't want to buy a Nigerian used S550 you don't know the history.

The E350 is also a very nice car! Nice aesthetics, balance, speed and very rugged. Fuel economy is very good for a sedan it's class and the car is also very durable and reliable. Shock absorbers are spring which many say is less expensive than balloons which are equipped with the S550. With a budget of 7.5M, I feel you'd get a better deal. You may even get a 2013/14 very clean direct toks at that price.

So the choice is yours now my man. I think I've been able to do a little exposition on the topic and hopefully more experienced users can drop their bits

I think you're better off getting an E350. Your budget would get you a higher model and you could face-lift it to even 2016/17 and still be within budget. Happy shopping

i used the w220 s500 for 2years before selling it. Its a nice car, the best i have driven.
Let me give you the pros and cons of owning it.

Pros
1.The engine and transmission is so responsive, before you know it speedo is on 160km and rpm is still under 3000
2. The interior is isolated from road noise and is totally luxurious.
3. The Sound System is heavenly, the bass can wake up the dead.
4. Its very spacious and heavy, feels like a tank.
5. The Suspension Is great, mine didnt come with the airmatic suspension.

Cons
1. The car goes through tires fast
2. The Fuel consumption is not that impressive ( i used close to 80litres from lagos to asaba)
3. body parts are expensive
4. during my usage i had problem with the a.c where the drivers side blows warm/hot air and the passenger side blows ice cold air.
5. fuel tank got rusted so bad that it blocked the pump with iron filings. i had to buy another.
6. the car fridge tends to work or not depending on its mood.
7. the front is low to the ground

my verdict: buy it if you have the cash to spend when things go wrong, expect to get around 5-6mpg.
would i buy one again? answer is yes, its a great ride
