PRESS STATEMENT, LAGOS STATE COMMAND.
DATED 20TH OCTOBER, 2020.

Due to the new development of violent attacks on police officers and men and formations including innocent Nigerians in Lagos State, and the 24 hour curfew imposed by the Lagos State Government with effect from 4pm of today 20th October, 2020, the Lagos State Police Command wishes to inform the general public that henceforth no protest or gathering or procession, under whatever guise, is permitted within Lagos State.

In the light of the above, all security agencies have deployed adequate personnel to take charge and enforce the curfew across the state.

In the same vein, the command regrets to confirm the setting ablaze of Orile Police State today at about 10am, where some of our policemen were critically injured and unconfirmed reports state that one of them is dead.

It's crystal clear that the Endsars protest has been hijacked by hoodlums who want to run down the state and the police command will resist such state of anarchy, unrest and brouhaha with all powers within the ambit of the law.

While the command is resolute in sustenance of human rights and democratic tenets, the general public is hereby warned to comply with the curfew and desist from any act of violence in the state as the command will resist such in totality.

Thanks you.

I stand against police brutality, and I am deeply depressed about how this situation has become messed up. I also stand against violence.

good,
The sweet protest dat started last week has turned into something it was not initially meant for. We should have all sticked to the Endsars campaign without any deviation. Sars has been disbanded, we should have sticked for prosecution of killer sars personnel and freeing innocent victims of police brutality. Proper justice for victims of police brutality and an end to police brutality. So much progress has been made in these areas

Until some stuppid ignorant individuals decided to turn into a call for good governance, buhari must go and other political gibberish all in the name of revolution. Leading to the widespread violence we are experiencing today.

And am asking, presidential election was just last year, where did the youths stand - Behind Buhari and Atiku
Edo election was few weeks ago, where did the youths stand - Behind eze iyamu and Obaseki
Ondo election just passed, where did the youths stand - Behind Akeredeolu and jegede

Ask the youths if they knew about the young politicians that contested those elections they will tell u no.
When it was time to speak, they stood behind the same old leaders

Revolution kee all of them there
I wish any miscreant caught should replace the freed prisoners immediately

2023 will soon be here, u will soon start hearing we Igbos are behind Atiku, we yorubas are behind Tinubu bla bla bla

Buhari had a lot of time to bring in personnel from the Nigerian Civil Defence Corp to protect harmless and peaceful protestors but nothing was done. These guys are to some extent civil and coordinated.

The people were protesting against the police yet you made them a target to miscreants and thugs. The civil defence guys would have done a better job protecting peaceful protestors and harmless civilians while the police defend themselves and go after the miscreants.

That being said, making a police station a target is totally cr.azy and out of place. We would blame no one but the same government and its policing structure for the extent of thuggery in Lagos state. Come 2023, some of these people would be hired to snatch ballot boxers. This is why they hardly repent.

A peaceful protest actually favours the thieves in power. That way they can negotiate and agree with the people. But if they ever try to use maximum force to bring this protests down, and there is no doubt that they can, it will mean that all peaceful means of engaging with an evil government on sundry issues effecting Nigerians as a people have failed! So what next? Your guess is as good as mine...

This may not go well with Nigeria. In fact, in the fist place, the protest is against the police in general, so using the same police to quell the protest may be disastrous.

Their tactics is working but it won't last..
Both govt and police paid the thugs to attack stations so that they can see an excuse to impose curfew. Only zombies would believe that peaceful protesters can attack, extort and destroy properties.

Where were the police when thugs was causing mayhem?
So they can face innocent youths with iphone but can't face thugs with sticks?

Good one.
Your point has been noted, why blocking roads, extorting passersby, stealing guns(arms and ammunition) and razing police station?

Are these same youths that want to Take over mantle of leadership?

well, we have saner youths but Criminals supercedes us
rawtouch:

The Protesters bit more than they are capable of chewing.

The continued demonstration after the disbandment and recall of SARS officers was clearly a wrong move.
