Nigerians, Shamefully, seems to have quickly forgotten those years, barely 5 years ago, when we suffered as a country. How could we repay the massive rejuvenation of our economy under this President and Political Party, by extension, with a massive protest like this.

5 years ago, when we were all suffering, when a Dollar was exchanged for 185 naira, when 2 Razor blades was sold for 5 Naira, when there was nothing like 50 naira stamp duty charges, when a brand new 2 bedroom flat in my area was 250,000 naira, A litre of Petrol was 87 naira, A bag of Rice was 6,800 naira, etc, Alhaji Lai Mohammed was God sent, he was all over the place, shouting on the top of his voice, exposing the shameful lies of the Goodluck Jonathan Government. He said there was nothing like Fuel Subsidy and a litre of petrol should not even be as high as 87 Naira in our oil producing country. He said Boko Haram was a scam and an effective government should be able to end Boko Haram in less than 6 months. He confirmed we were suffering as a country with high cost of living and there was no way the economy could grow when Naira was exchanged for as much as 185 naira.

Well, he said many things. As well as everyone of them that was fighting for us, then. They sometimes would not sleep well for days, as they made sure they tackled the then President Jonathan, as an incompetent president, who is killing Nigeria and Nigerians with his harsh economic programmes.

Fast forward to today, a Dollar is exchanged for 465 naira, 1 Razor blade is sold for 10 Naira, we now have 50 naira stamp duty charges, a brand new 2 bedroom flat in my area is now 500,000 naira, A litre of Petrol is 151 naira, a bag of Rice is now 24,500 naira, etc. So, i wonder, why these protests ?

A local flight from Lagos to Maiduguri, all within Nigeria, as at Today is 75,000 for economy, 110,000 for first class on Azman Air. So why the protests ?

We have a very competent and respected Man of the people, a lover of the Nigerian youths, Chris Ngige, the Minister of Labour and Employment of Nigeria who has been doing his best to end ASUU strike, after just ONLY 7 months. Afterall his own children are all schooling in the UK. So why the protests ?

Rotimi Amaechi, what a lovely man and asset he is to the Buhari Government, has also been doing his best. Our country should be thankful to this man. There was no other competent person to be our Minister of Transportation, hence this man was chosen as the square peg to fit the round hole. With 35,000 naira now, you can fly from Abuja to Kano and you would not even be given any refreshment. Cost of transportation have now quadrupled than what we had 5 years ago. So why protest ?

A typical young Nigerian man, wakes up from a brand new Mouka foam which be bought this year for 52,000 naira (used to be 22,000 naira in 2015). He walks to his kitchen, quickly made a light meal of Indomie Super Park, which he bought for 120 naira (used to be 50 naira in 2015), on a Gas cooker he had just refilled for 3,600 naira (used to be 1,650 naira in 2015). Well, his food is done but he prefers to eat his light breakfast while watching the news. So he quickly rushed downstairs to put on the small Tiger generator, he just bought for 28,000 naira (used to be 15,000 naira in 2015). The generator started one time but it isn't sounding smooth at all and he suddenly realizes the 4 litre of fuel he bought the previous day for 650 naira (used to be 360 naira in 2015) is almost finished. So he sped back upstairs to at least get the News Headline before the generator goes off.

He was lucky cos the news is just about to start. He balanced in front of the TV he bought for 65,000 naira (used to be 45,000 naira in 2015). So now the news starts, as he pays rapt attention...... "Welcome to the New at 9 and here are the Highlights......VAT have just been increased to 7.5 naira. Nigerian Association of Bread Manufacturers and Distributors says they have no choice than increase bread from 100 naira to 150 naira in the coming week. DSTV has just announced an upward review of all their Bouquet and have even reduced the Movie channels on Compact Bouquet. Electricity Tariff to increase by more than 100%. 12 School children lose their lives on their way back from an Excursion on a bad portion of the Badagry express way. 8 people lose their lives as their driver was trying to avoid been extorted by FRSC officials on Ikorodu road. Federal Government have just approved 37 Billion Naira for the upgrade of National Assembly. The Nigerian Senate approves 1.3 Billion naira as second quarter allowance for its members.....And now to the details. The CBN Governor has just increased VAT from 5 naira to 7..."

Generator has gone off. Damn. Anyway, he rushed up his meal, took his bath and stepped out. He walks down the staircase carefully. He just rented the renovated apartment and he hasn't really gotten too familiar with the staircase well enough. He rented the apartment for 450,000 naira (used to be 250,000 naira in 2015) and yet was forced to pay another total of 210,000 naira as Caution + Agency + Agreement Fee.

As soon as he open the staircase door that leads outside, something fell. Omo, na Nepa Bill o. His eyes quickly went to the current charges. His current IKEDC charges is 21,252.11 naira and the outstanding on the bills, as accumulated by previous tenants of his flat is 486,896.71 naira. His day has just started but the IKEDC bill killed his morale instantly.

He left the compound angrily, sad and confused. Got to the bus stop and those conductors are saying Oshodi-Oshodi 400. Jesus. How can ? He is really so confused and there in the hot sun wondering how to cope. He has waited for 35 minutes now and some of the buses are even demanding 450 naira for the trip to Oshodi. After 40 minutes in the hot sun, he was very lucky to get one for 300 naira and hopped in with a struggle. He spent exactly 1 hour 28 minutes between Alakuko and Oshodi due to the extremely bad portion of the road and the corruption of the Agberos at every bus stop. He finally alighted at Ikeja-Along bus stop, extremely extremely tired.

By the way, this young man just relocated to Lagos State. He is a graduate of Computer Science and wants to buy a New Laptop at Computer Village, so he can start practicing his web designing skills again and hoping to get web design jobs in Lagos. He has to start planning to settle down and get married soon. His previous Laptop was stolen by armed robbers at Okenne - Lokoja road when he was coming back from his National Service Program.

He was able to get a brand new laptop after 4 hours roaming Computer Village. A brand new Laptop now costs 220,000 naira, the last one he bought was for 140,000 but the guys at Computer Village explains that nowadays, Nigerian Custom Fees they are forced to pay is like 4 times what it was before in 2015. He had no choice, bought the laptop and now he heads home.

2 policemen stops him, searched him, searched his phones and concluded he is a Fraudster else he wouldn't have had such amount of money to buy a brand new Laptop. He was shocked. He tried explaining to them and they instantly slapped him 3 times. Pushed him inside their VAN and took him away to the station which is more than 10 kilometers to where they picked him. They beat him black and blue, dragged him to the ATM Machine and forced him to withdraw 200,000 naira of the remaining 211,500.35 naira in his account. They even seized the new laptop and sent him away at gun point.

He cried and cried. Got to the bus stop, met more than 600 awaiting passengers also looking for a bus to take them home. He looked up, saw one bus approaching, tries quickly to get to it and then he suddenly heard Sango/Toll gate 600 naira, wole pelu change e.......

So why does this particular man has to join the protest too ?

I wept till my eyes turned red yesterday. Every leader has failed us completely. Not even one has showed independent sympathy and understanding. We have been fooled for generations and if any politician ever comes out to say he loves Nigeria or his people again, cursed be that person.
We are not animals. what does it take to come out and show full support and stand in front of the soldiers killing your people and demanding them to stop or else you wont leave. Instead they all went hiding and yet claiming to "love" us so much. I am seriously sad that we are so gullible and allow these people use sweet words to sway us every time.
Including that Osinbajo that is always deceiving with big grammar. No actions to show the love only words on paper. Its a pity we have been fooled till this point.
