Hello Nairalanders, I want to ask a question.
..
From Now Going Forward, As A Law Abiding Citizen, If You Come Across Those Policemen Who Normally Stand On The Road To Collect ₦50 Bribe From Erring Motorists, What Would You Do If You Erred And You Were Caught?
..
For Instance, If you were caught taking one-way, or driving without your proper vehicle documents, or If you're caught flouting any of the road safety rules; would you be willing to pay the government stipulated penalty? or would you prefer to drop the ₦50 Bribe and go your way?
..
The thing is, before now, a typical road-patrol policeman would just be collecting ₦50 from every motorists, as if he is collecting some kind of legitimate taxes. Motorists who tried to establish their stands that such taxes are illegal would be forced to park very well, and a thorough search would commence on them.. And definitely, the police must find loads of faults on such motorists, after which they would make sure they took the person to the police station, or he would have to pay a bigger amount of bribe in order to free himself.
...
With the typical scenario described above, what would you think the onward situation would be in the New Era Of Police?
..

It's in their blood, they will not stop collecting bride even if you make their minimum wage 100k. The recruitment process is faulty that's why.

Another way to put it is, will you stop taking one-way or driving without your driver's license or other requirements like fire extinguisher, tint permit, updated insurance, etc.? If you're caught flouting any of the road safety rules, would you be willing to pay the government stipulated penalty? #EndSARS.

Nope... All you need to do is to comply with road safety rules and regulation. Be a patriotic citizen.

Together, we all can make Nigeria great.

that's the work for road safety. despite road safety billing people. the public have not condemned them. the police are not really interested in any of those demands. they only want you to settle and if you refuse claiming that everything is intacts, they will delay you and tell you to go and wait there. they will leave you there and extending to others. and when you complain they you tell you they are doing their work since you are claiming to be smart.

Let that time come first..
...
Honestly, the day we start to vote for individuals rather than parties, that's the time more than half of the problems in our country would be solved.

Is the police supposed to check these things?

Then why is there Road Safety Corp and VIO?

Why the duplicity?

If the police have the mandate to check these things, then all other agencies should be disbanded make we face one problem.

Party is not the problem my friend.

It's the character, the capacity and the person of the candidate that matters.

Imagine if in 2023 APC presents Tinubu and PDP presents Peter Obi, you would be surprised to see Tinubu winning with a landslide because of ethnic and religious consideration rather than "capacity" of candidates.

I don't think youths forming their party makes sense because the mafians in these two parties will not let it thrive.

I think the youths should rather endorse candidates.

Please use a better example next time. Peter Obi is not different from Tinubu. Two identical thieves, different ethnicity.

But you are very right to say it is not the party, but the people in the party. If not, will anyone vote for James Ibori, Rauf Aregbesola, Diezani Madueke, Bola Tinubu or Peter Obi if they go and form a new party?
