POLICE PRESS RELEASE,  LAGOS STATE COMMAND,  DATED 5TH NOVEMBER, 2020

WE WILL RESIST ANY PLANNED PROTEST IN LAGOS- POLICE

The Lagos State Police Command has vowed to resist any form of planned protest, procession or gathering under any guise or nomenclature in Lagos State  as the government and people of Lagos still nurture the wounds of the recent Endsars violence that wrecked havocs across the state.

The command wishes to inform the general public that based on intelligence gathering from relevant intelligence agencies, some unpatrioric elements or group of people have concluded plans to orchestrate another set of violence in the state in furtherance to the recent  Endsars violence, which has been analysed as dangerous and counterproductive.

Premised on this, the command, therefore, wishes to warn any individuals, group of students or any groups who might want to stage any form of protest, either "peaceful" or violent, or gathering whatsoever, to desist as the police and other security agencies will
collectively and tactically resist any security threats or threats to public peace which might be triggered by protest or protesters in Lagos State.

The Police command, emphatically, warns parents and guardians to discourage their children or wards from embarking on any protest in the state as the possibility of hijacking it by armed hoodlums to cause grieve and pains like the recent past is evident.

We encourage the general public to ignore any call for protest and go about their lawful businesses as all hands are on deck to maintain law and order and public safety across the length and breath of the state.

So police will be the ones to determine the right to peaceful protest & no more the Nigerian constitution? Shebi una never still get the message?

Same police that is constitutionally empowered to protect peaceful protesters and arresting miscreants? So how come same miscreants were assaulting peaceful protesters yet the police did nothing?

No tyranny have ever succeed against the resolve of a determined people. #EndSARS will be a child's play when another uprising will spring up.

Good news

I love this.

Most people don't understand once you destroy things during protest, you are indirectly taking away your right.

Some people will say it ìs their constitutional right to protest, yes it is but also know that destruction, blocking of roads and airports, burning down buildings, and occupying Government buildings is no more a protest again but a coup.

Lagos has the largest number of thugs and hooligans in the country. It is very easy to recruit such characters for any nefarious activity.
The plan of the anarchists didn't go as planned the last time. The police should be proactive and not wait for anarchist organisers to mobilise before responding. We know how the sponsors did the last one, use thugs to block roads, harass motorists and loot businesses. When public opinion changes, the "peaceful" protesters will then deny their foot soldiers or responsibilty.

Even if some organizers have one hundred peaceful intent, they cannot control the protesters nor direct how it will end. What they will end up doing is causing more destruction of lives, businesses and encouraging the most violent criminals to come out of hiding.

If you are sensible there is no need for any protest or gathering in Lagos for the moment.

The holy scripture said there is time for everything.

What do they want to protest for now? Loot people’s businesses again?

Continue ranting.

Those who claim they are emancipated from mental slavery are actually the real slave.

If you were free, you would have had control over your life instead of blaming everyone for your problems or trying to fulfill someone else ambition for power

The government has actually been playing it smart for a while now. That was why they did not allow the "revolution now" see the light of day because they know the kind of people they are leading.
Even the endsars one, you can imagine the speed with which SARS was ended so that evil people do not take over the protest, but all these indomine people who do not understand precedence thought protest was just about wearing sneakers and snapping pictures. Even in first world countries, if a protest stays too long people will take laws into their hands, it is a natural law of power.
