"Before the destruction of Benin" ? The hypohetical paper which you quote doesn't say that. Besides you still didn't provide access to the hypothetical paper (crooked methods I see). You claim the date of publication of the hypothetical paper which you quoted is 1903, 1903 is six years after 1897 (the year Benin city was looted by the british and burnt to the ground by the british). 1903 is the only date which is claimed for your hypothetical text ! Your "before the destruction of Benin" is an other of yor allucinations.

I hate responding deluded people. This person in particular just specializes in writing a bunch of illogical rubbish, the fact some people like this person's comments is just a show of how low IQ can get in nigeria.
Pure nonesense as usual. Total waste of time.

Who is this dullard?? And why are Binis this dumb?

First of all, that screenshot is not from a “paper”, but from a “book” — A book written by H. Ling Roth and published in 1903.

Secondly, Roth was QUOTING from notes taken by Mr. Cyril Punch — And Roth mentioned this clearly in the same preface.

Thirdly, Mr. Cyril Punch is a British merchant who traveled around Benin and the Yoruba country in the late 1880s/early1890s — taking notes and some pictures.

Fourthly, one of the pictures you once attached was taken by Cyril Punch during the travels. See embedded image.

You still haven't provided access to the paper which you claim to quote. There is no possiblity to discuss a paper which nobody except you can see. For all I know, the paper might not even exist, or the quote might not be from the paper... Like the crook you are, you quote papers which you do not provide.
Also, once your claim is defeated like usual you modify your claim and put something additional on it.
Now you are not only quoting a hypothetical paper, but also saying the paper is quoting an even more hypothetical paper...
You guys really like fairytales.
The guy who took that photo of the ancestral shrine in the King's compound in Benin city (1891) was admiratif of Benin city enough to take the photo, whereas I am yet to see a photo (of that period) which that guy took of ibadan or any crappy néo-yoruba village. Your fabrications can only work with incredibly stupid people.

Intelligent people like me shouldn't be allowed to waste time talking to retards.

I knew you are a dullard, but what I didn’t know is that it was this bad.

It is not a “paper“ like I said earlier. Again it is a “book”. Binis need to understand the difference between these two.

Also, I cited the book and the reference already when I said: H. Ling Roth, (1903), Preface. Why did you think I was the cause of your ancestrally low IQ?

And the quotation (as Roth made clear in the same preface) is from the notes of Mr. Cyril Punch — a traveler around the Yoruba country and Benin in the late 1880s & early1890s.

By the way, I am only responding to disgrace you further. Do not feel dignified at all by my noble responses. grin

Some of the key reasons why I stopped giving him attention are:

(1) I was able to pass my message across and convince every culture-active Nairalander that he is my rag. [See first and second attachment for an example].

(2) He himself admitted that he is my rag, and that he is an empty-headed dullard. Yes, he admitted it. [See third attachment for an example].

You guys have time discussing history with those whose history began in 1808 when the white man amalgamated former slaves with south western natives.

Great Benin should be discussed alongside other greats such as Greek, Egypt, Rome etc. Not those who have nothing from their past to showcase other than insults.

Were is Bight of Ife?, the country that bears Ife? Ife historical monuments such the Benin moat?

Absolutely nothing but insults upon insults.

Where is Bight of France? No Bight of France? Ouch! Benin must be greater than France! Oh lawd, give Binis brain — at least small.

Wait, the whole of the forest of West Africa used to be called Guinea. Even the Gulf was Gulf of “Guinea”?

Wow! Where is Gulf of Spain btw? No Gulf of Spain? Oh my God! Guinea must have been a West African empire.

And by the way the city of Ife had its moats — just as all the major Yoruba cities also had theirs independent of one another. In fact it had two concentric moats.

Moreover, the Yoruba walls were more shiny than any wall the Binis ever made. Haha!

Ignorance be making people bungle around. grin

PS: To claim your kingdom is great is one thing. But to claim your kindgom is greater than others’ is a separate claim entirely.

It is for this second type of claims that I often bring up relative comparisons, such as in my screenshot below, from the same pre-1897 observers.

A tribe that their ancestors were hostorical cowards to their fellow neighboring tribe, and a puppet to the whitemen

A tribe who sold herself to slavetrade and yet today they are happy their language is going to be made official in the lands they sold their brothers to

Same tribe sokd their lands to foreigners who had different skin colors and dashed out their artworks for a bottle of aromantic schnapps

Some how beyond all these shame written all over their history they know no shame, reproach

The truth yoruba history can never hold weight without benin history by it side

See your earliest writer samuel johnson, on so many instances on his book he had to specify benin separately in his book history of yorubas

If you need the other instances just say yes and i would pour them out

The truth is yoruba history cannot survive without benin history by it side, benin oba agreeing to be one of oduduwa sons in early times for political gains was the biggest achievement yoruba ever had

Samuel johnson called the oba of benin, king of benin while he called other yoruba kings by their title

Why did he do this,

So he wont sound foolish calling the king of benin oba, and yet still use the word oba as a generic term to adress yoruba monarch

He was very foolish
