We've A Long Way To Go, If BBNaija Stars Get State Government Appointments - Nigerian Lecturer

A Nigerian lecturer, Dipo Awojide, has condemned the recent appointments of BBNaija stars into political offices, IgbereTV reports.

On Friday, November 6, the Bayelsa state governor, Duoye Diri, appointed BBNaija lockdown housemates, Nengi and TrikyTee as his Senior Special Assistants.

Reacting to the development, Dipo said such appointments show that Nigeria has a long way to go.

He wrote:

''I like many of these BBNaija folks but I don’t know why many of you are celebrating state governments dishing out Senior Special Assistant appointments. SSA on what exactly? And why? Do these reality tv stars have the qualification and competence? We’ve got a long long way to go."

Misplaced priorities.

Sincerely speaking, this country has got it wrong from 20th century where something has been taken in place of other things

Music, film, tv and social media stars are influencers......fact, as much as one may want to disagree! If they can help influence the youth positively and under a structured gov't setup, then that can only be a plus for everyone!

I have a friend who will always complain about every politician.... They are incompetent, they know nothing, what experience do they have to lead the people and so on.......

So when Laycon of BBnaija was given an appointment, he was happy and was spreading the news..

So I asked him, now that your favorite is in a political position, can you tell me his experience in governance? :

I told him it's likely God has blessed those other politicians to get where they are as well.

They're people, different people are qualified for different positions. Leadership positions required in-depth knowledge, discipline and focus. These positions are not for entertainers without these qualities. Putting them in such positions means we're not ready to move forward.

I am just pissed by the way we honour and glorify nonsense in Nigeria.We keep doing things that are injurious to our moral health and expect to prosper as a country.
There are more qualified youths out there who have proven their mettle in their chosen field of endeavour that can merits this kind of appointments.

Rewarding frivolities when there are countless competent and eminently qualified youths out there with no job. Our leaders needs to do better

The more reason we are where we are now is that the calibre of the majority in the leadership position, majority of them do not have the requisite knowledge, discipline and focus required, we want to weed those not fit out, not to add more unfit.

Obviously we don't want entertainers so also we don't want non-entertainers who lack required qualities.
