A lamp is a device that is used to produce light or sometimes heat. A lamp is an artificial source of light. A lamp has become an essential part of our daily life from the previous many years. The lamp was invented at least 7000 BCE ago.

Lamp

The previous gas lamp made by the use of a simple burner in which the yellow light of the flame was the source of light. With time, new types of lamps invented that operate on different conditions such as electricity, battery, etc. There are many types of lamps available in the market. Each type of lamp differs in its operating principle, the material used in those lamps, and no doubt energy efficiency.

An essential type of lamps is a lamp that operates using a battery when we charge the battery of that lamp then that lamp becomes a source of light and we can take that lamp anywhere, where we want to light. Torchlight is an example of lamps that operates using a battery.

Battery Lamp

The battery of the lamp charged using a direct current (DC) source. Battery store chemical energy. When DC sources applied to the battery, batteries convert electric energy into chemical energy and store chemical energy. When start discharging it converts chemical energy into electrical energy.

Another essential type of lamp is a touch lamp that operates using human touch. Touch lamp act on the principle of body capacitance. The principle of body capacitance is the ability to store charge and possibly discharge the energy using spark discharge.

Everything has a capacitance. So, the human body and lamp have their own capacitance, similarly, The human body and lamp together have different capacitances. Touch detects these changes in capacitance and operates accordingly.
