Doraty1:
Kenechukwu Okeke, an activist, has filed a criminal suit at the FCT High Court against 50 persons who participated or promoted the #EndSARS protest online.

POLITICS NIGERIA reported how the protest against police brutality and the misdemeanours of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) attracted attention from across the globe.

Several peaceful demonstrations were held in major cities in the country to show the displeasure of the youths.

While the federal government has promised to implement the demands of the protesters, weeks after, it launched a clampdown against promoters of the protest.

This paper had reported how international passports of some persons were withheld, some persons’ bank accounts frozen and scores arrested. These moves have been largely condemned by rights activists and members of the international community.

However, in court documents obtained by POLITICS NIGERIA, Aisha Yesufu, Deji Adeyanju, Ayo Sogunro and some other activists have been dragged to court by Mr Okeke.

Pastor Sam Adeyemi of Daystar Christian Centre, hip hop singers; Damini Ogulu known as Burna Boy, David Adeleke, popularly addressed as Davido, Folarin Falana, Yemi Alade amongst others were also joined in the suit as defendants.

Others include social media personalities and good governance advocates.

Mr Okeke claimed that between the October 28 and October 30, 2020 the defendants, via their twitter accounts, conspire amongst themselves to “commit misdemeanor, to wit promoting or acting in such a manner with intent to assist in the promotion of an unlawful assembly under the guise or composition of “#EndSARS”.

This according to him is an offence punishable under Section 97 (2) of the Penal Code Act, C53 Laws of the Federation of Nigeria, 2004.

“That 1 to 50 accused persons with intent to carry out some common purpose, assemble in such a manner, or, being assembled under the composition of “#EndSARS”, as to cause persons in the Federal Capital Territory. Abuja to fear on reasonable grounds that such assembly needlessly and without any reasonable occasion may provoke other persons tumultuously to disturb the peace.

a. Properties (movable) belonging to the complainant was egregiously destroyed by some riotous and tumultuous person (s) instigated and incited by the 1 to 50 accused persons.

The averments as espoused in this complaint is not intended to be a complete recitation of all the applicable facts in issue or relevant facts relating to the conspiracies to assist in the promotion of an unlawful assembly (#EndSARS) riots, and shall not be deemed to constitute a waiver or relinquishment of any of the complainant’s constitutional right to fair hearing all of which are hereby expressly reserved including complainant’s right to tender all available computer-generated evidence by virtue of Section 84 of the Evidence Act,” the court documents read.

Why is it that the name of Mrs Omoni Oboli is always being ommited on these lists.

She was the first whose announcements of the alleged 78 people shot by soldiers made nairaland front page
https://www.nairaland.com/6209975/actress-omoni-oboli-begins-healing

She was all over the social media and her tweets were being shared in multiple times.
I believe she will be a very valuable witness or defendant in this case.

Do they really really think the victims of the carnage caused by their alleged fake news are going to allow it to go without a fight?

Everyone deserves justice and if she's found lying or spreading fake news should be prosecuted. Her 'breaking news' of people being killed

I know they will use an igbo man to do such....why didnt a northern lawyer file for this since they see the endsars protest as a ploy to change there own norhtern president of nigerian in the person of buhari? taking peaceful protesters to court over a legitimate demands is turning to something else for our "charge and bail lawyers"!
have you taken the police to court and got it implemented over there extra judicial killings and tortue before?

so one can't protest over bad policies or issues in Nigeria again, no wonder no one is willing to die for the side called "Niger area".

by now almost all the people who participated in the Arab spring in Tunisia, Algeria and Egypt for they prison by now...gush, what a country!

I am surprised that her name is not there too.
She was the first to tweet the number of dead from the Lekki Toll Plaza.
She has been quiet ever since as it becomes clear that she was deceived. But all the same she is an accomplice.

I support this guy 1000%.

Why should Falz be going on TV and encouraging people to loot and destroy public and private properties? Burning down public buses and police stations?

Seun Kuti as well.

These pampered 'stars' sit in their airconditioned mansions forming freedom fighter, and telling others to go out and destroy properties and loot shops and businesses belonging to ordinary Nigerians.

You illiterate, irresponsible youths need to get it into your thick skulls that incitement to violence is a criminal offence, regardless of how angry you are at the govt.

And if any of you dare come near my property in the name of protest, I will blast you to kingdom come with my weapons.

Useless idiots!
