Well, you should try getting involved in Church activities like ushering. Start off from there.

By the way what's your area of expertise since you work from home

Well, l think with your kind of job, you do need all the time to concentrate.

But l understand the fact, 'no man is an lsland'.

You need person(s) that will understand the demands of your job as some might find it digusting; no frequent hanging out, visitation etc.
Now, if you're of age, consider getting involve with someone who will not only keep you company but can also be a source of fun around your work space.

Compatibility is the key factor here.

i guess you perfectly... living like this isn't too good.
U honestly need few friends around because of loneliness which isn't good for a lady....my advice is just try and engage in any social club in church or non governmental agencies...it will help alot.

Hi friends, I need your suggestions and advice.
So this is my story.

I'm Olayemi(not real name) and I'm in my mid-twenties. While growing up, I wasn't the type that had so many friends, though I wish I had but due to my upbringing and personality, I couldnt.

While in the Uni, I made an handful of friends but after we were done, we couldn't keep up with the friendship as before due to many reasons.. choice(some kept their distance) and physical distance. Just a Hi-Hello conversations once in a while.

Straight to the point. Now I work from home and I don't have the opportunity to go out and interact with people because most time, I work till evening. Sometimes, the only time I step out of my house is on Sundays, when I go to Church.
On Saturdays, it's either I go visiting a friend, mall, market or I stay back at home doing chores and relaxing.

I'm bored with this lifestyle, sometimes, I crave for human interaction. You know that feeling when you've been on the pc for hours and you just need to clear your head.
I strongly believe in interacting with people and building great relationships.

I know gym is an option but...for now, I can't keep up with gym.

Online… tried initiating conversations with new people but not that encouraging…
Some are just disinterested… I don't blame them, we all have our choices and preferences.
I have a lot to talk about but let me stop here.
If you are or once in my shoes, how did/do you cope?
How do you meet people to interact with?

Thanks for your contributions.
i can relate to this because am practically walking into your shoes. Mine is worse. I don't even come out most Sundays. Most of my friends have labeled me a snub. But am not. Am a very friendly and accommodating person. Am even a talkative.

I think the best solution is to come out. For me (a guy) am thinking of joining a football team. From there I'll make new friends. I'll create time and probably party with them. Work is important, but work shouldn't be everything. A balanced life is better

I've realized it's not good. Boredom and all. Social club/governmental agencies are good ideas.

Finally found someone who can relate. I can understand the part where friends think you are intentionally snubbing them.
I agree with you. A balanced life is very important. You should know how to separate work from your normal life although it's not easy when you work from home.
Technically, your home is your workplace.

Are you sure you are really friendly and open? Some of you work-at-home come off as snubs. I have some of them I have ignored!

It's not that difficult. Start with your friends. Organise outings more. It can even be in your place, where you'll cook and invite them over. Be willing to sponsor, you'll surely see your friends agree to it.

You mentioned church. There's a lot of potential there. I'm guessing you are the type that runs home immediately after service. After service wait behind, talk and get to know the person(s) you sat beside during service. Collect numbers. It's not only guys that collect numbers wink Chat them up or call them. Church is one sure place to get human interaction.
Do this and let's know how it goes.

By the way, what state are you in ?

Guy, this is so out of point that I don't know where to start with you.

She is not sick. Happiness has nothing to do with fun outdoors or meeting people. Atleast happiness is not limited to engaging in such activities.
