The lady is not yet ready to marry. I'm from Idemili and yes we are not allowed to kill serpent (eke) not snake. It can only be removed with a stick. However I see no reason this will stop a marriage except there's something else she's not telling us.

Nope. I blame the gal's mother. As an Igbo gal, she should be in a position to have the knowledge of both her culture and the culture of neighboring towns.
