It is actually the govt that spreads fake news when they want to deny their atrocities.

Re: Lai Mohammed: We Will Regulate, Not Shut Down Social Media by pacespot(m): 8:43am On Nov 20, 2020
This useless Buhari government wants to regulate the same social media that brought about his ascendency to power. People said it that this man was a coupist, he is the antithesis of what democracy stands for, but we never listened. The problem is we have cowards pretending to be a strong man in the government in this country. They hide behind military to perpetrate their evil government on the people. Peru president and other 8 key members of his cabinet resigned office because few protestors died in the hands of security forces. But here in Nigeria the government wants to regulate social media that helped shed light on some of the atrocities committed during protests by security forces. I hope Nigerians will one day develop balls to start chasing after these evil leaders the way they are chasing after common people today. Any avenue that provides a little escape route for people to get justice from this despotic government is what will be their next target.

Can't say i really trust the government on anything and minimum control often turns to maximum control, but lets see. Hope this won't be the real end of freedom of speech.

So the Instagram live videos of the Lekki army shootings that later sparked off the violence is now fake àbí? Live broadcast is now fake news? But the lies about the army posting a watermarked release of their involvement in the shooting as "fake news" is now the true news?

Gbajamiamila's security detail shot another unarmed Nigerian going about his business few hours ago. This was in the glare of all present and within few minutes another police van came and bundled the body away. If this had been in the nighttime, I'm sure Kai Mohammed would have tagged it fake news or that the people around were trying to attack the senators convoy and the police had to shoot to protect him.

Even now that they've carted the body (the only evidence) away, we expect the government to start to lie that no shooting occured. We expect their defenders here and other social media to attack the carrier's of the news, challenging them to provide proof of any shooting by providing the pictures of the dead body or that any family should come forward to claim that they have a son who is a vendor in Abuja who is missing.

But how do we get out of this mess, these people just kill people at will like sallah rams without giving a fvck, an average Nigerian should be worried about the current trend of killings by security forces. They will later come out and deny a glaring incident with clear pictures everywhere. And these same people want to regulate social media If you know how I am filled with rage right now for that social media regulation nonsense.

"You will all remember me for the freedom you enjoyed under my administration" - GEJ

This govt is a dictatorship with a democratic face. Everything buhari did before is what he is doing again, reason why I believe he might end up as he did before.
Reason why I laugh when people defend him with the excuse that "he means well for Nigeria but those around him are bad". Who around him today was with him in 1983, why is it that it is the same pattern & agenda he is still pushing today?

Anyway, Keep believing in an atmosphere of miracle, because na only divine intervention go fit remove this blood sucking demon from our head o! grin

My guy, I've seen that Buhari man finish, he is an evil man. And he always has this stubbornness that he can do and get away with anything because of his northern adherents, but inside, he is a coward. He never had the ball to fight the corrupt bigwigs aka cabals in this country, the only people he ever fought are those in the opposition party because that will help to assuage him before his party cronies. He also has a very big muscle to fight the youth with the help of the military and police. He personifies everything that is wrong with Africa today: old gang politicians. I'm very sure Buhari is as corrupt as any leaders we ever had in the past.

many countries have regulated social media some even pay social media tax . Why don't you see stupid stories on social media from some certain countries for example Dubai many see dubai in social media as a lovely tourist destination and a beautiful city but dubai has it's other side and tales which we don't get to see on social media . In uganda they pay social media tax (ott) . We need it before fake news and rumors will lead to
Total anarchy.People like you are the main problem to this country Dubai leadership with this evil Apc jihidist government

Before they Regulate the Social Media Bill, Let them first Abolish Boko Haram, Create Employment for the youths, Provide Standard Security for the Citizens and also Punish Those Responsible for the Lekki Toll gate massacre
It was Social Media that helped them achieve the power they have, now they ain't doing well They fear the backlash of the Public

Some youths are regrettably becoming academically impotent. This is the reason why they reason via the rumour mills on the Social Media. They don't listen to the news any more. They rather indulge in rumour-mongering without verifying its authenticity.
You are now spoiling things for other genuine critics on the Social Media.
Re: Lai Mohammed: We Will Regulate, Not Shut Down Social Media by Nobody: 11:02am On Nov 20, 2020
federal government can not regulate social media but they can shut it down in Nigerian, why because you can't regulate a company that is not in Nigerian better still federal government can negotiates with social media companies in American but can't dictat what the company should do , Facebook, Twitter and Instagram has the sole power to approved any post or comments on their platform, what federal government can only do is to track and arrest post contradicting their opinion
