An Indigenous Engineering Company, OMITI Engineering, heavily linked to Dangote Refinery Project is presently engrossed in a N7m bad debt controversy.

A procurement company dragged Omiti Engineering to a Lagos court over failure to honor a contractual agreement between them. According to court papers sighted by BarristerNG, Omiti Engineering received a supply from the plaintiff worth N31m since 2018 but refused to pay the plaintiff in full.

When the case was heard, Omiti Engineering admitted all responsibility but asked the Court for time to settle the bad debt. The Lagos Court granted the request of the Engineering firm.

However Lawyer to the Plaintiff, decried the failure of Omiti Engineering to live up to their plea to the court to settle their liability to the firm on or before April 2020.

She stated that she she will approach the court to seek further remedy as Omiti Engineering had shown that they are “Irresponsible and Lack any regard for the court”.

Information available to BarristerNG shows that Omiti Engineering, has a poor history of integrity in keeping to terms of agreement. A source who spoke to BarristerNG on the condition of anonymity stated that his company is also owed huge debt by Omiti Engineering for a procurement contract.

In 2018, Mount Spiral Nigeria Limited, a supply chain management company headquartered in Lagos, petitioned the Lagos State Commissioner of Police accusing Mr. Nduka Nwosu, the Managing Director of Omiti Engineering FZE, of defrauding it of three million naira and threatening the life of its personnel.

Mount Spiral undertook a transaction with Omiti Engineering FZE wherein it supplied an Engineering/Project management Software (Primavera P6 Enterprise project Portfolio management – P6EPPM) to the company but Omiti Engineering failed to honor its agreement to offset all payment within 45 days.

Also In 2019, Omiti Engineering was also accused of turning the Dangote Refinery Project into a slave camp and owing workers and sub-contractors arrears of unpaid wages and due procurement payments
