Point of correction: Chelsea and Man city were not bought for the purpose of making profits.

These clubs are rich men or billionaires toys. The owners pump insane amounts of money into that make no financial sense.

That's why a fair financial act (I have forgotten what it's called) to bring equity to football

Why you dey talk like this, if it's not for profits, na wetin dem dey find.... Why R Abrahamovic no put money again if na for fun.

. That's wrong. He just became a senator recently. Even this is his first term. If you say as governor, but even before becoming one, he was already a billionaire but out of greed, still tampered with the Treasury.

PhiliptheArab:
For those of you asking why he does not buy Enyimba instead...some hard facts...

1.When a busienssman buys anything...it is because he wants it to make him a profit...or more money. That's why the Glazer family bought Man U and the Emiratis bought Man City. Had everything to do with more money, and nothing to do with football.

2.Arsenal is far more profitable than Enyimba. Tickets at Enymba for one game cost less than 2000 naira . Tickets at the Emirates cost 12000-38000 naira.A season ticket at Arsenal...cheapest rate, single adult , costs 455000 naira.

Plus Arsenal is in the Europa league....income from broadcast rights in the millons. Plus Arsenal is in Premier league...more millions comming in. Add sponsorships....

Does Enyimba have that? Can Enyimba boast of having qualifed for Confederations cup recently...or champions league caf style?

3. OUK is a businessman and buying a share in the Arsenal means quick return on investment. Enyimba on the other hand....just to throw away money . Unless he can increase ticket prices at Aba township stadium to N13000 per match.....
Well said.

Even then Abaramovitch was looking a bit worried some years ago when Chelski announced losses...

Sure they are playthings....but even playthings get discarded when they cost too much money...plus UEFA nowadays tends to get a bit annoyed if the financiaL losses are a bit too much (as Man City can tell you...they very nearly got thrown out of the Champions league some years ago for not meeting UEFA financial standards...)

Your response highlights the point in trying to make. The profit motive was not the prime motivation for buying the club, the same with Chelsea.

For Leicester, it's obvious the profit motive played a big role.

Really disturbing. A subtle jab from the Mirror to the man.HIs ambition is DOA as a PEP.The hint has been clearly given that he is not a fit and proper person just like the Saudi prince SBS issue with Newcastle buy over.
