What a brilliant idea from coalition of dumb r us. grin grin grin

So, you decided to import from a smaller, poorer nation not because you’re unable to produce it for cheaper in your own country and create jobs for your own people but ONLY because of regional trade development, smh.
Nigeria is officially being ruled by semi-illiterates and those responsible for putting these idiots in power are rolling on the floor laughing their butts off. grin grin

“Niger Republic produces oil and they are landlocked as a country. They have a refinery that produces in excess of what they require as a country and they offered to sell to us in Nigeria because this is a bigger market.

“In the spirit of regional cooperation, regional trade development, we decided to buy from them. I don’t see anything wrong with that. If your neighbour is producing something that is required in your country and you buy from him, why is that a big problem?

“So, we agreed with Niger to buy the excess of what they don’t require in Niger because this is a big market.”

“Nigerians should be proud that we are doing that to encourage sub-regional trade because we have been talking about sub-regional trade for a long time and this is how it should be between neighbouring countries. Niger should import from us what they have and we should be able to import from Niger what they have. Let us encourage intra-regional trade and this is one good example of trading within West Africa,” he added.“

Then why close the border to other things coming into the country from our neighbours?
Or are we selective in our intra-regional trade?

Timipre Sylva is a shameless fool! It's sad the government succeeded in scuttling the 'ENDSARS' protest after the govt sensed the protest was gradually metamorphosing into an agitation against bad governance. I thought Nigeria had finally woken up but alas the evil govt won. But its victory would be shortlived because patriotic Nigerian who are sincerely tired of the shenanigans, ineptitude and corruption in Nigeria have thirsted blood, and are not afraid to thirst it again. Nigeria borrows money from China; borrows from every monetary institutions it can unabashedly kowtow to. Now we are about to "resume" oil importation from Niger! Meanwhile we have more crude oil than Niger! Isn't it beyond shameful that Nigeria doesn't refine its own God-given crude? What in heaven's name is wrong with our leaders and policymakers- past and present? Can't they reason like humans for once? Haba, Nigeria. Who bewitched you?

Jungle journalism.

As usual, food for those who cannot think.

I listened to the minister on channels TV,he only talked about it not being an embarrassment to import from Niger,a fellow African country. He never said anything about being proud of that.

If we can import from Europe, why not Niger.

Until we get our refineries to work,it can never be an embarrassment to import from Niger instead of Europe.

You must have bewitched yourself.

We should wait till the refineries are fixed before importing from Niger? Or it would have been better if it was Europe, abi?

The refineries that previous governments could not fix in over 16years,you want the present govt to fix in 5 years, abi?

As usual, the jungle punch newspaper did not mention the fact that in the said interview ,the minister mentioned the revitalisation of the refineries soon.
