DOA! The case lacks merit. The Speaker is not the employer of the killer, the NPF is. So the case is a Victim vs Shooter + NPF case. The Court can't hold the Speaker responsible for anything. He didn't order the shooting and he's not responsible for police training or drafting of police officers to his security detail. The NPF is responsible for that. Does NPF have N500m to pay anybody? I don't know. May God comfort the family of the deceased, and may God continue to have mercy on me. 3 Likes |

dionflex:can u imagine, compensation for the family is d best act, but demanding a specific amount with a lawyer on d case is an act of stupidity. I was expecting they'll say they needed justice sooner. Someone like me wl immediately liv dem alone jejely and ask dem to face d guy that murdered their son and let's c if they wl get Kobo and justice. basty:In law, there is what is called vicarious liability. An employer can be held liable for the acts of the employee |
Re: Ifeanyichukwu Okereke's Family Demands ₦500 Milion From Gbajabiamila by ThierryJay: 6:36am On Nov 25, 2020 |
LUGBE: Try to understand. Vicarious liability pertains to a situation where a principal or an employer is held liable for wrongdoing committed by his employee/agent in the course of their agreed duties. Gbaja is neither the principal nor the employer of the security aide that was merely assigned to him by virtue of his office. That's the role of the DSS, who pays the security aide from their budget funded by the FG. So vicarious liability in this instance can only apply to DSS and not Gbaja. If a car hire services driver kills someone while driving you somewhere, you would not be held responsible, the car hire company may be however on the principle of vicarious liability. Yebosola: Sometimes some of you speak without proper reasoning. Maybe if it was you that was shot dead, you'd be ashamed of your people for making a reasonable demand from your killers. Pray that such fate does not befall you or any member of your family. I wonder why youths like you make mockery of tragic situations in the lives of others, trivialise and tribalise such matters. Countless people from your tribe have lost their lives in such situations and prominent lawyers like the same Mike Ozekhome, Femi Falana, etc have won compensations from them from the state. If not for your shortsightedness, you'd realise that Gbajabiamila's promise may only last now during his tenure as the speaker of the house. The family has sued the speaker in his position and that in effect is the government. You all participated in endsars and demanded justice, including looting and destroying properties of private individuals. Government responded and yet you still demand more concerning the police. Let's be mindful of our words please. 2 Likes |

Comments here show that Nigerians are mostly a worthless people hence the magnitude of chaos and disregard for life within their society. Of course you lot worship money, and your political leaders understand that so they steal even what they don't need just to be seen as gods, but all of you treating the death of this vendor lightly are people who place very little value on themselves and how to improve the actual quality of their hellish environment I repeat, a worthless people who deserve the worthless leaders they've got 2 Likes |

Openbusiness: Are you a lawyer? Do you know more than Mike Ozekhome their lawyer? Why not sit down comfortably in your house and watch the turn out of events? And by the way whoever told you that because they sued for 500m they'll get compensated with that sum? And how do you know that Gbajabiamila won't vacate his earlier promise (as the speaker), which is typical of Nigerian politicians? Do you know if the matter will be settled out of court? |

The family is now being greedy seeking to be rich over night with the death of this young man. And if one investigate you will be surprise that this demand is not coming from the dead man's wife but the man's family who has seen this as opportunity to make wealth. Gbajabiamila is not the one that kill so he has the chance of getting off the hook and considering how things runs in nija, he can also use his position to get away with this if he want. So they better allow the man to do what he said he will do. Though no politicians should be trusted by his words. RIP to the dead I only pity his immediate family. 1 Like |

This is laughable. Gbaja has been civil to those people enough even to the extent of promising to grant the kids scholarship and also promised his wife a better life. They now have to start demanding bogus amount from him. The case has paperweight cos he's easy for him to ask the family to demand the amount from the shooter vis a vis DSS. The family is greedy even after what the man has promised them. Let them sue the shooter not gbaja. If they drag this case too much, as per naija standard, they may end up with just N1m compensation and gbaja can decide not fulfil all his promises to them again. Igbos and victim mentality sha... 1 Like |

Way to go.. Trust a nigerian politician at your own peril.... They know that all the promises Mr speaker made is just to pacify angry Nigerians and after a year, it ll be history. But if they are able to get compensation now that the media hype is high, then they re settled. |
