If you need help with this, then this is one way to recover your lost WhatsApp messages:

1. Check your phone internal storage and look for the folder WhatsApp,
2. Open that folder up and look for the folder Databases
3. Confirm the date of the last backup there. (If they are many, the most recent one is what WhatsApp needs to restore your messages. If you cannot find a msgstore backup there, that means you have accidentally deleted it or you have not enabled backup in the first place.)
4. Uninstall & Re-install WhatsApp on your phone
5. During the Re-install process, you will be asked to Restore a backup. (Usually, WhatsApp will check for backup on your Google Drive first before checking on your phone internal storage, so before you start this process, ensure that the backup on your Google drive is current or if not current, delete that backup there and leave the one on your phone storage so that WhatsApp restores the one from your phone internal storage)
6. If prompted to restore a Backup, Agree and wait. Make sure you have enough data to last the process incase WhatsApp needs to pull images from your Google drive backup.
7. After your WhatsApp is restored, you should see your old deleted messages there.
