An improved or good academic performance does not just happen in a day; it is the accumulation of efforts and hard work put into your academics that result to a very good academic performance. Handwriting, as vague as it sounds is very important and shouldn’t be ignored by any student. As much as everyone must not have same handwriting, but at least your handwriting should be written in a way that anyone can read and comprehend what you put down in writing. Having a good handwriting is not only important for academic activities but also for personal dealings such as proposals, requisitions etc. that is if you are not typing them. Therefore, for whatever purpose, a good and readable handwriting is advised.
Handwriting has to do with the structure of your writing. Handwriting can either be bad or good. A bad handwriting is one in which another person other than you cannot read or comprehend. While a good handwriting is one written in a way that can be clearly read, understood and message well passed.
There are also different types of handwriting such as bold, small, slant among others. The most important thing is that whichever way you write just make sure your reader or whoever comes across it will be able to read and comprehend without difficulties.
Academic performance or academic achievement is the extent to which a student, teacher or institution has attained their short or long-term educational goals. Completion of educational benchmarks such as secondary school diplomas and bachelor's degrees represent academic achievement.
Academic performance is the measurement of students’ achievement across various academic subjects. Teachers and education officials typically measure achievement using classroom performance, graduation rates and results from standardized test.
HANDWRITING AND ACADEMIC PERFORMANCE
Handwriting also influences academic performance. A student with a bad handwriting may have his/her lecturer or teacher finding it difficult to read and understand what the student has written and this can have a negative effect on the academic performance of the student in external examination and their research projects. When a lecturer cannot read what a student has written, he/she takes it that the student does not know what he/she has written. In such a case, there is likelihood that the student will lose some marks as a result of that and this will affect his/her grades.
In conclusion, a good writing can make or mar a student. Having a good handwriting can help in improving the academic performance of students while a poor and unreadable handwriting can lead to the poor academic performance of students. It is therefore, advisable that students especially the ones with bad handwritings that cannot be read and understood to improve on them. As a matter of fact some lecturers or teachers even award marks to students with a good handwriting. A good handwriting impresses as well to whoever comes across it.
