Failure to restructure this country is postponing the evil day. The north that see restructuring as a meaningless conversation is now feeling the heat more than any region.

Crude oil in the Niger Delta and quota system are the 2 reasons the northern elites are opposing restructuring.

A truly restructured Nigeria will bring concentrated governance to the people while the blame game will shift from the centre to the states.

It will encourage a healthy competitive growth among the states and they'll be better run as a productive enterprise as against the feeding bottle economy the 1999 Constitution subject us to.
My brother, you may not believe it, fulanis have colonised Nigeria. We have the resources, they have the population. And I don't think they can give us our independence through yearly cry for restructure. I doubt it.

The Chairman of the South-West Governors’ Forum, Rotimi Akeredolu (SAN), has reiterated his call for the restructuring of the Nigerian federation as the sure path to unlocking and harnessing the nation’s full potential.

Akerodolu, who is the Governor of Ondo State, said this in his remarks at the 39th Annual National Scientific Conference of the Association of Community Pharmacists of Nigeria, where he was honoured as the association’s “Worthy Ambassador,” in Abuja, late on Tuesday.

He said, “There is no doubt that the country experiences serious socio-economic challenges in virtually every part. While a sizeable chunk of these problems is attributable to the global crises, there are others which call our attention, urgently, to an appraisal of the fundamental issues which define nations.

“It is unprofitable to resort to a facile description of the current upheavals in Nigeria without looking at the factors which militate seriously against our quest for nationhood. We must analyse these issues with a view to determining the workability of the current structure. We must seek solutions to the endemic problems bedeviling the country.

“The over-dependence on oil revenue is retrogressive. Modern economies don’t thrive on monoliths. The country must pay more than passing attention to the issue of diversification.

“In addition, the federating units should, progressively, assume distinctive identities discernible in the economic activities’ peculiar to them and for which they are best suited to undertake.

“The current structure promotes indolence and kills ingenuity. Every part of the country must be encouraged to develop according to its potential. There must be deliberate devolution of responsibilities to the States.”

Earlier, the national chairman of the association, Dr. Samuel Adekola said, the unrivaled development of the health sector since creation in 1976 by the Akeredolu administration in Ondo State earned the governor his appointment as a “Worthy Ambassador.”

THE NORTH IS AFRAID OF RESTRUCTURING.

They prefer this "One Kobo arrangement" where stipend are giving to states in Nigeria at federal allocation where they never grow and the crude oil producing states or states like Lagos that are bringing vat proceeds never get enough for their sacrifice.

If this clarion call by Arakunrin Akeredolu is true and not just a smokescreen then trust me this is a Solid one.

He has done what Tinubu failed to do since Buhari assumed Power.

Well said cool
Tinubu was shouting restructuring upandan before APC took over, since then he has been mute. His men are shouting again because the politcosphere seems unfavorable to the SW. So it's all politics.

BTW, how is the XXL business going? cheesy

You are so apt on this but I don't think Akeredolu is much on the same page with Tinubu. He is just envisaging a bigger loss or shortchange for the South-West subset in the scheme of things ahead of 2023.

BTW, how is the XXL business going? cheesy

I agree. This is what we have been saying.Nigeria have been so bastardized that regions have to start developing on their own away from the centre.
What are we gonna do now

Somebody said on this forum that any idea meant to move the country forward is always against the interest of the north

Where do we go from here. We are stuck.
Re: Akeredolu: We Must Restructure Nigeria To Make Progress by mideactive: 10:15am On Dec 03, 2020
With restructuring, people like you might not become a governor l,and be sharing Abuja money every month. You have ended up making a total mess of the salary payment system in Ondo state, some people get paid some people don't . It's very bad we keep having people like u in power.

Is like everybody is now singing the praise of restructuring, but who are those still against it and how powerful they are to stop this national consensus? I've heard many power brokers in the North coming out to support this restructuring, so what is the delay for? Though the president hasn't said anything yet
